In the aspect of numerical calculation, Tao Wenquan put forward the principle of sign invariance to analyze the stability of discrete schemes of flow terms and the idea of combined grid to deal with irregular regions; A new discrete scheme of absolutely stable convection term and a fully implicit algorithm for dealing with the coupling relationship between velocity and pressure in incompressible flow field are proposed, which improves the calculation accuracy and convergence speed. The research team of numerical simulation of heat transfer and flow in Xi Jiao Tong University founded by Tao Wenquan has a certain influence in the world. Young and middle-aged scholars in the team thrive. Among them, 2 won the National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award, 1 won the National Science Fund for Outstanding Young Scholars, 1 won the national famous teaching teacher, and 3 won the outstanding talents of the Ministry of Education in the new century.
