Zhangqiang Town is located in the west of the county seat, 35 kilometers away from the county government. It borders Erniusuo Town and Dongsheng Township in the east, Liushutun Township in the south, Shajintai Township in the west, and Sandu Sumu in Kezuohou Banner in Inner Mongolia in the north. Area 153 km2, cultivated land 10.5 million mu. Jurisdiction over Zhangqiang Village, Guanbao Wobao Village, Dongyishu Village, Huajiawobao Village, Houxintun Village, Sanshu Village, Qianxintun Village, Aobaowobao Village, Qijiazi Village, Tangseng Temple Village, Liangzhongchang Village, Gaixiang Wobao Village and Xijiazi Village. The town government is located in Qijiazi Village, Zhangqiang Town. There are many hilly areas in Zhangqiang Town, which are high in the southwest and low in the northeast. The southwest is hilly and gully. In the middle is a low hilly plain with many fertile fields. Northeast China is low-lying and prone to waterlogging, which is connected with Gobi Desert in Inner Mongolia. There is Malian River from west to east along the northern border, and there is a natural Sidaohao Reservoir in the northwest, covering an area of 555 hectares. Zhang Kai Expressway crosses the border and the North-South Ring Road meets. Agriculture mainly produces corn and sorghum, rich in fish and shrimp. The northwest is divided into forest area, animal husbandry area and oil-bearing area; Southwest China is a grain-bean area, which mainly produces corn. There are brick factories, wineries, farms and other private enterprises, 820 individual industrial and commercial households, one junior high school, four village-level primary schools/KLOC-0, and the Second People's Hospital of the county is also located in Zhangqiang Town. The martyrs' cemetery on the east hillside of the town has lush trees and imposing tombstones.

Formerly known as Halaqintan, in order to commend and commemorate Zhang Qiang and other martyrs, the superior decided to name Halaqintan as Zhang Qiang Town, and build a martyrs cemetery in Zhang Qiang Town 1959.
