Where is Zhongjiang Shouning Temple?
Zhongjiang Shouning Temple is a cultural relic protection unit in Sichuan Province.

Shouning Temple is located in the west of Zhongjiang County, Sichuan Province, with the steep Loumiao Mountain in the north, while Kaijiang, which is crystal clear, competes with the north and south towers of the county, and sets off Dongkui Mountain in the same city. There is a historic site "Jade Bureau Cave" at the northern foot of Miaoshan at the back of the temple, and "Loumiao Wei Fei", one of the eight scenic spots in Zhongjiang, in front of the temple, which attracts people who come here to worship Buddha to climb up and watch. In the Qing Dynasty, Ning Zuo, a city official, went to Miaoshan, and there was a poem in Miaoshan: "Sighing is unusual, and imprisonment is really different. Painted on all sides with mountains and peaks, a bay of flowing water pours into Yaotai. Swallows dance with the spring breeze, and the wind sends the sound of pines far and near. Looking at the fog rising on the ground, I don't know where I am in the colorful clouds. " In a few words, the beautiful scenery of Loumiao Mountain was painted in color.

The origin of the name

Shouning Temple, formerly known as Shengshou Temple, was built in the second year of Emperor Tai of Sui Dynasty (6 19). The present site of the temple was originally the former site of Loumiaoshan Ancient Temple. Master Zhengguo, former vice president of the Chinese Buddhist Association, became a monk in Shengshou Temple in his youth. Before he died, the mage said, "Shouning Temple in Zhongjiang County, Sichuan Province is my monk temple. I hope I can go back and see. " Later, due to busy business, he failed to do so. Unfortunately,1October 20th 1987 165438 died in Beijing Guangji Temple. In 65438+February of the same year, the Chinese Buddhist Association sent a letter to the Zhongjiang County People's Government, hoping to restore and open the Buddhist temple of Zhengguo Master. However, due to the age, the original Shengshou Temple Hall has been seriously damaged. In order to realize Master Zhengguo's long-cherished wish and cherish the memory of this patriotic and religious monk, with the approval of Zhongjiang County People's Government, it was decided to move Shengshou Temple to the former site of Loumiaoshan Ancient Temple near the county seat, where the temple is located today, and to name it after what Master Zhengguo said before his death.

work progress

Shouning Temple has been rebuilt many times in the past dynasties. The existing Guanyin Hall, Daxiong Hall and Tianwang Hall are all buildings in Ming and Qing Dynasties. Song Xingzu (Dali Temple Zhengqing) donated money to build Guanyin Temple in Chongzhen period of Ming Dynasty (1632). During the reign of Emperor Qianlong of Qing Dynasty (1752), Daxiong Hall was built. Ten years of Daoguang (1830), the Temple of the King was built. After 1950, the temple was occupied by the head of Yasheng Department, and it was well preserved except for the Buddha statue. Zhongjiang County People's Government attaches great importance to the proposal of becoming a monk. In a very difficult economic situation, the county government allocated 60,000 yuan to move out of the temple independent unit for free. The funds needed for the maintenance of the temple mainly depend on the donations of religious believers and the self-supporting undertakings jointly run by the permanent monks and lay monks in the temple. After ten years, the existing ancient buildings of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, such as Guanyin Hall, Ursa Major Hall and Tianwang Hall, have been renovated, and the Zhengguoshi Memorial Hall has been built.

architectural feature

After maintenance, Daxiong Hall still maintains the double-eaved building structure in Ming and Qing Dynasties. The architectural carvings are exquisite and beautiful, and the figures and animals are different in shape and lifelike. In the center of the main hall, there is a Burmese jade Buddha donated by the Sichuan Buddhist Association, which is exquisite in craftsmanship and powerful in shape. In the center of the hall, there is also a white marble statue of Siddhartha Gautama, designed by Shouning Temple and carved by craftsmen in this province. The Buddha statue is three meters high with smooth lines and vivid images. There are statues of Ananda and Kaya on the left and right. There is Amitabha Buddha behind the Ursa Hall, and Manjusri and Pu Xian statues on the left and right. There are eighteen arhats on each side of the hall, with different postures, which are very eye-catching.

Guanyin temple is a double-eaved wooden building in Ming Dynasty. The four corners of the eaves and the surrounding dragons are selected as a group, which bends upward and has a unique style. From the upstairs, you can see the words "Building castles with wealth, Dali Temple is cruel to Song Xingzu" written on Erliang. The three pairs of western statues in the temple are kind-hearted and strict with themselves.

Due to disrepair, Tianwang Temple has become a dangerous building with sloping walls. Rebuilt in 1992, the rebuilt Tianwang Temple is magnificent. There is a statue of Maitreya in the center of the hall, and there are four statues of heavenly kings on both sides. In front of the main hall is a temple plaque inscribed by Zhao Puchu, president of the Chinese Buddhist Association.
