First, the complex of the Academy of Fine Arts: the artist's spiritual yearning

1, graduation or graduation

In art resumes, we often see: "I graduated from the graduate class of the Central Academy of Fine Arts". When reading this resume, collectors should pay special attention to: first, whether I graduated or have graduated, and second, whether I have a master's degree. If you graduate, you are usually a master. If you graduate, you have no master's degree. If you don't have a master's degree, you are not a graduate student, but an advanced student. Due to the great influence of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in China, some artists write their resumes in an ambiguous way, which is difficult for laymen to detect.

The standard writing of this resume should be: "Graduated from postgraduate courses or advanced courses for teaching assistants of Central Academy of Fine Arts" or "graduated from a college of Central Academy of Fine Arts with a master's degree." Collectors should carefully distinguish this point, because graduation and graduation are essentially different, and their entrance examination, years of study, teaching content, thesis defense and graduation creation are all different.

Comparatively speaking, having a master's degree in the Academy of Fine Arts is one of the important standards for the appreciation and preservation of artistic works.

2. What are the eight forms of learning?

The plot of the Academy of Fine Arts specially designed by the author specifically refers to the experience of studying and training in the Central Academy of Fine Arts. From the form of study and training, there are mainly the following eight forms: short-term refresher courses, general refresher courses, postgraduate courses, teaching assistant refresher courses, advanced seminars, ordinary visiting scholars, senior visiting scholars and unified recruitment. The eight forms of learning are different.

First, short-term refresher courses. Ordinary refresher courses have low entry threshold and mixed students, mainly primary and secondary school teachers, art lovers and decoration bosses. The certificate of completion is printed and distributed independently by the school.

Second, graduate courses and supplementary training courses require entrance examinations, and generally there are few students enrolled. They often recruit graduate students with classes. Their students are good, most of them are college teachers, with a schooling of one or two years. The certificate of completion is uniformly printed and distributed by the Ministry of Education. Its advantage is that you can get a master's degree by passing the national unified foreign language examination after graduation.

Third, the advanced seminar, referred to as the advanced seminar. At present, the Central Academy of Fine Arts has held advanced seminars on oil painting (2003-2005), freehand brushwork in Chinese painting (2003-2005) and mural painting (2007-2009). Comparatively speaking, it is more difficult to get into school and the students are not bad. Basically, they are well-known young and middle-aged painters in China. This class lasts for two years, and the substitute teacher is also a famous old professor in the Academy of Fine Arts. The graduation certificate is uniformly printed and issued by the Ministry of Education.

Fourth, general visiting scholars and senior visiting scholars are a kind of advanced training for deputy senior professional titles. Most of them have a relatively stable research direction and are the undertakers of provincial-level national projects, so the number is small, and the substitute teachers are also old professors of the Academy of Fine Arts. The academic system lasts for one year, and their graduation certificates are also uniformly printed and distributed by the Ministry of Education.

Five, unified recruitment, including undergraduate students, master students, doctoral students, the most difficult to enter, after graduation, there are two certificates, graduation certificate and degree certificate.

In short, there are eight different forms of running a school. In the art market, many artists we see have entered graduate courses and advanced classes for teaching assistants in the Academy of Fine Arts. A few people enter advanced classes; Collectors should be aware of this. Comparatively speaking, undergraduates and master students in the Academy of Fine Arts have the greatest appreciation potential, and advanced research classes also have great appreciation potential. Postgraduate courses and teaching assistants should be carefully considered, and other standards should be referred to when collecting. Comparatively speaking, undergraduate and graduate students have low investment amount, long cycle and high return. The advantages of advanced research class are large investment, short cycle and high return.

Title, position and degree: which is more important?

1, depending on the title or position

In the artist's resume. We often see "professors, associate professors, researchers, associate researchers, first-class and second-class artists" and so on. Generally speaking, there are three main titles of artists. Teachers' titles are evaluation professors, such as Central Academy of Fine Arts; The title of research institute or research institute is evaluation researcher, such as China Academy of Fine Arts; The title of a painting academy is to evaluate artists, such as China National Painting Academy.

The first thing to say is that a high professional title does not necessarily mean a high level of artistic creation, and the relationship between them is not proportional. A high professional title can only show that the artist is old.

Similarly, in the art resume, we can see "the dean of the college, the director of the art department, the director of the research institute, the dean of the painting academy" and so on. These titles are the administrative positions of artists, that is, "officials". In the art world, the level of administrative duties is not necessarily related to the artistic level, and the two are not directly proportional. As far as artists are concerned, they basically don't care about the level of administrative duties. Administrative positions waste time in dealing with interpersonal relationships and coordinating complex affairs, so they can't create, so ordinary artists are reluctant to be officials.

In short, collectors should not be confused by titles and positions when they see the artist's resume. Titles and positions are important but not necessary for artists. Those with professional titles can, and those without professional titles can. The so-called dean, director and director should pay special attention. According to the average person's energy, it is illegal to give consideration to artistic creation and administrative affairs, unless he is superman.

2. Choose a Master of Arts or a Master of Arts (Doctor).

In the artist's resume, we often see "Master of Arts" and "Master of Arts (Doctor)". Wait, the entrance standards, examination difficulty, teaching plan and degree certificate of these three degrees are different. We will answer them one by one.

As far as the domestic discipline system is concerned, art belongs to the first-class discipline, and the corresponding discipline category of art belongs to literature. Like music, dance, drama, movies, etc. Master of Arts degrees have been obtained in all arts. As far as the current enrollment system is concerned, there are currently three forms of obtaining a master's degree in literature. One is the postgraduate unified examination; Second, colleges and universities are studying for master's degrees on the job; The third is to take postgraduate courses for one year to get credits, and then take the national postgraduate equivalent to apply for a degree English exam, graduate writing, and get a master's degree after thesis defense.

The master of arts, like the master of education, the master of law, the master of landscape architecture and the master of business administration, belongs to the professional degree form. Foreign countries have long implemented the professional degree system, and its enrollment characteristics are "emphasizing majors over foreign languages". Specialized courses are the focus of candidates' competition. Therefore, generally speaking, students with a master's degree in arts have a better major.

At present, there is only one way to get a doctor of literature, and that is to take the national unified doctoral examination. It should be noted that the first doctor of techniques of the Central Academy of Fine Arts just graduated in 2008.

In short, when collectors collect works, among the three master's degrees, Master of Arts and Master of Arts are preferred, followed by Doctor of Literature, and other standards should also be referred to.

Third, members of the American Association: Is it the only criterion for judging works of art?

1. Choose whether to join China Artists Association or other associations.

Members of China Artists Association have become an important criterion for many collectors to judge whether works of art are collected. Not only because it is a national art professional association under the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, but also because it has strict membership standards.

Besides the members of China Artists Association, we will also see members of other associations, such as China Ceramic Industry Association (director of China Light Industry Association), China Arts and Crafts Association (director of China Science and Technology Association) and other national associations. These associations are officially registered national legal social organizations, but the membership conditions are relatively simple. Anyone who voluntarily pays the membership fee can join, so the academic nature needs to be strengthened.

In addition to the above associations, there are also some "cottage" associations, research associations and so on, such as: World Artists Association, Asian Artists Association, Huaxia Art Research Association, Oriental Art Exchange Association, China Painters Association, China Painters Association, Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Art Research Association and so on. These associations and research associations are basically not recognized by insiders. Don't trust any academician of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Institute, Hong Kong Painting and Calligraphy Institute and Shenzhou Painting and Calligraphy Institute. At present, there is no academician system in humanities in China. Besides, don't believe in who's who in the world or anything.

In a word, when collectors choose, they should first choose the members of China Artists Association, and other members of the association should carefully consider what they say and do with caution. When an artist joins many associations, don't believe it easily. He is basically a "Jianghu artist". Excellent artists have short resumes and few members, so it is enough to write a member of China Artists Association.

2. Contemporary artists who have not joined the association.

When I say contemporary artists, I mean experimental, avant-garde and avant-garde artists. I mean the specific art group, not the concept of time. For example, Fang Lijun, Yue Minjun, Wang Guangyi and Zhang Xiaogang are the four heavenly kings in the painting. "Four Heavenly Kings of Installation": Cai Guoqiang, Huang Yongping, Ai Weiwei and Bing Xu. Their success was displayed on the big stage of the International Biennale. They basically do not participate in exhibitions organized by the China Artists Association in China, but participate in internationally renowned biennales in exchange for their international reputation and the title of international artists. The works are basically collected by foreign collectors and art galleries.

For such a specific group, from a specific point of view, contemporary art is also a hot spot in recent years.

In short, the two types of artists take different paths, one is to innovate in traditional art, and the other is to explore new art forms, which are worth collecting.

Fourth, being selected and being collected: are they weights for artistic appreciation?

1. Is it a competition exhibition or an invitation exhibition?

Competition exhibition, that is, through preliminary examination, review and other forms of selection of works, awarded gold, silver and bronze awards. Invitational exhibitions, that is, inviting artists to participate in exhibitions, are generally not awarded. In the judging system of works, competition exhibitions are relatively fair, but invitation exhibitions are different, and people of different regions, ages and identities are often taken care of. There are many competitions and exhibitions in China, the most important of which are the National Art Exhibition (once every five years), the Beijing Biennale (once every two years) and the National Youth Art Exhibition. There are also solo exhibitions in other art categories, such as the National China Art Exhibition, the National Oil Painting Exhibition, the National Printmaking Art Exhibition, the National Sculpture Exhibition and the National Ceramics Exhibition. There are also many invitation exhibitions in China, so I won't list them here.

In short, when collectors see many exhibitions in their art resumes, they should carefully distinguish them. Those who have won gold, silver and bronze prizes in competitions and exhibitions have the greatest collection potential. If an artist keeps winning prizes in various competitions and exhibitions, he must collect them as soon as possible. Invitational exhibitions are "caring" exhibitions for people in the art circle, and it is not surprising that there are many exhibitions.

2. Is it a domestic exhibition or a foreign exhibition?

Important domestic exhibitions mainly include: National Art Exhibition, Beijing Biennale, National Youth Art Exhibition, etc. , and personal exhibitions in other art categories. In addition, there are some contemporary art exhibitions that cannot be ignored, namely Guangzhou Biennale, Shanghai Biennale and Chengdu Biennale. These exhibitions are an active stage for contemporary artists and can also be used as one of the important standards for collectors.

As far as foreign countries are concerned, the three most important biennials are: Venice Biennale in Italy, Sao Paulo Biennale in Brazil, Kassel Literature Exhibition in Germany and various biennials in other countries. Cai Guoqiang won the Golden Lion Award in the 48th Venice Biennale with 1999, which was recognized by the whole world. Ai Weiwei 65438-0999 was selected for the 48th Venice Biennale in Italy and won the reputation of an international artist. Lv Zhongsheng was selected for the 50th Venice Biennale in 2003, and the price of his works kept rising. Although it is not a competition system abroad, but a curator system, exhibition organizers generally employ excellent curatorial teams, and the quality of works is an important selection criterion.

In short, collectors should distinguish what is the most important exhibition when collecting works. If contemporary artists have been selected or won prizes in the three international biennales, they must be collected, which has great potential. Domestic artists have won awards in two major exhibitions in China, so they must be collected and have great potential.

Be careful with these certificates, the pictures come from the internet.

3. Is it a domestic collection or a foreign collection?

The author refers to the works of art collected by specialized art galleries and museums, not individuals. Generally speaking, art collections in art galleries are the best affirmation and recognition of artists' works. Picasso, a Spanish artist, is the only one who lived to see his works collected by the Louvre Museum in France.

Important domestic collection institutions include China Art Museum, Shanghai Art Museum and Guangdong Art Museum. Important foreign art galleries include Louvre Museum in France, Pompidou Art Center in France, Metropolitan Museum in America, Guggenheim Art Museum in America and Kyoto National Museum in Japan.

In short, if the works are collected by domestic art galleries or foreign art galleries, the appreciation potential of the works is huge.

Fifth, the last trick: don't look at your resume, just look at your job.

The last trick to collect works of art is not to be confused by artistic resumes, but to see whether the works of art are liked by others. When you see a work, whether the artist is from the Academy of Fine Arts or not, whether the artist has a professional title or not, and whether the work of art has won an award or not, you just like it.

I believe that different collectors have different feelings and sentiments about their works. Maybe a certain work can resonate with you and look familiar. Maybe a certain work makes you extremely excited, just like a friend you haven't seen for years; When a work can really touch you, even if it is only deeply touched, you will never give up this work and flow into the hands of other buyers. This is "fate", which may be the highest state of collection.
