At the age of 36, he went north to the capital, "called the giant of Tao", but he was not satisfied. According to Dai's "Painting a Cave", "Hua painted himself and visited the capital without asking. " During his middle and old age, he often traveled between Hangzhou and Yangzhou to sell paintings for a living. Not only has a distinct personality, but also is full of artistic conception. Hua Yan's landscape and court style are different from those of Wu Pai and Dong Qichang, and they are generally simple.
