He emphasized the role of the state in economic life, which is the pillar of social progress, and advocated "national socialism", which opposed both classical political economy and Marxism.
He has made extensive research on banking, statistics and finance. Based on his theory, he actively participated in the political activities at that time, was an important figure in the Christian Socialist Party and the Evangelical Conference, one of the founders of the Social Policy Association, and a staunch supporter of Bismarck's policy. He is the author of A Reader of Political Economy, Finance, Principles of Political Economy, Social Policy Thought, Socialist Forum and National Socialism.
