Based on Chen Ran's novel of the same name, this film was selected for the International Women's Congress. The girl Meng Meng lived in the shadow of her violent father since she was a child. Her parents' endless quarrels left a scar on her young mind that could not be healed. After their parents divorced, Meng Meng, a middle school student, and his mother moved out of their original home and lived a poor and quiet life in a shabby warehouse in their mother's unit. There is also the only neighbor living here, a middle-aged couple reunited after a long separation. The man is Dr. Song and the woman is a worker. Quarrel is a common occurrence in their family. Mother first broke the peace of life and began a sweet love in her later years with an early classmate who had experienced ups and downs. Then, Jia Ni, a classmate of Meng Meng, died because of her failure in the college entrance examination and the heavy pressure of her family, which made Meng Meng more lonely and depressed.
