Liu Yuxi was born in Jiaxing, Suzhou (now Jiaxing, Zhejiang). In the ninth year of Zhenyuan (793), he was a scholar, first as a school official of Prince Edward, then moved to Huainan Records Office to join the army, and then joined Du You's shogunate, which won Du You's trust and esteem. Du You entered the DPRK as prime minister, and Liu Yuxi also moved to the empire. At the end of Zhenyuan, he joined the "two kings and eight horses" political group headed by the prince.
After Tang Shunzong ascended the throne, Liu Yuxi participated in the "Yongzheng Innovation". After the failure of innovation, it was repeatedly relegated. In the second year of Huichang (842), he moved to be the guest of honor of the Prince and died in Luoyang at the age of 71. He was posthumously given to the Minister of Housing and buried in Xingyang.
Liu Yuxi's poems and essays are all excellent, with a wide range of subjects. He was called "Bai Liu" with Bai Juyi, "Liu Liu" with Liu Zongyuan, and "Three Masters" with Wei and Bai Juyi. He left his masterpieces such as Humble Room Inscription, Zhi Zhu Ci, Yang Liuzhi Ci and Wuyi Lane. Liu Yuxi's three philosophical works, The Theory of Heaven, discussed the materiality of heaven and analyzed the origin of the theory of destiny, which is materialistic. He is the author of Collected Works of Liu Mengde and Collected Works of Liu Binke.
Commemoration of future generations:
1, Liu Yuxi's former residence was expanded and rebuilt in the Ming and Qing Dynasties since the Song Dynasty. 1986, the shack was restored by Hexian County, Anhui Province. In the same year, the humble room was approved by the provincial people's government as a provincial key cultural relics protection unit, covering an area of more than 5 mu. In 2008, Liu Yuxi's humble house was rebuilt in Hexian County, Anhui Province.
2. Liu Yuxi Memorial Hall is located in Yanxi Mountain, lianzhou middle school, with cornices, arches and vermilion columns, showing the architectural style of China's classical court. The antique and resplendent memorial hall, after careful display, is full of charm: the collocation of lights, murals, poems, bronze statues and other scenes sets off a rich and colorful sense of history.
3. The great poet Liu Yuxi was buried in Xingyang, Henan (now Xingyang, Zhengzhou) after his death. On the basis of Liu Yuxi's tomb, the Xingyang Municipal Government of Zhengzhou invested heavily to build a large-scale cultural theme park covering an area of more than 280 mu, and opened it to the public free of charge.
Liu Yuxi's tomb is located in the south highland of Liucun, Langwo, Shilipu Township (now Yulong Town) in the east of Xingyang City, Henan Province, and was called Tanshan in ancient times. The north of the tomb is about 70 meters away from Zhengzhou-Shang Jie Expressway, facing south. There is a round mound about 7.5 meters high and 20 meters in circumference. According to the Records of Xingyang County in the Republic of China, "Liu Yuxi's tomb is in Tanshan Mountain."
