Huang Yongzhi's father, Huang Jiang, is a chef of Miramar Hotel in Hong Kong and a consultant of Liyuan Restaurant. Huang Yongzhi went from Guangzhou to Hong Kong on 1970, and worked as a Chinese chef in Cuiheng Village Restaurant of Miramar Hotel on 1978. His father sent three strict apprentices to teach cooking skills. Later, Huang Yongzhi was transferred to Yayuan Restaurant, which is famous for its game dishes, with a monthly salary of only HK$ 350. More than a year later, he was transferred to Tsim Sha Tsui Beijing Road Jade Restaurant as a "chopping block".

Huang Yongzhi 1982 joined Liyuan Restaurant and 1985 became a chef. He is the youngest chef in Liyuan over the years, 1992 returned to Hong Kong from overseas as a chef. From the founder of Liyuan Group and the son of Guangdong general Chen Zhizi in the Republic of China, he gained a lot of management and operation experience. He has worked in Yayuan Restaurant for 26 years. In recent years, he founded Longdi Restaurant Catering Group.

Since 2005, he has co-filmed Huang Limei as a consultant and hosted several slimming programs on Asian TV. In June 2009, he switched to wireless TV to host the diet program "Brother Zhi's Instruction". The closed Boyi Publishing Group published many cookbooks for him. He also writes a diet column in Metropolitan Daily.
