First, clever use of "a diversion":
At the beginning of April, after crossing the Wujiang River in the south, the Central Red Army went straight to Guiyang and once hit the airport 20 kilometers away from Guiyang City. Mao Zedong's operational intention is to "transfer the tigers on the mountain and attack the Jinsha River", pointing out that "as long as the Yunnan army can be transferred out, it will win", because if we want to go west to Yunnan and cross the Jinsha River, we must transfer the Yunnan army out and remove the main obstacles.
Chiang Kai-shek, who was supervising the war in Guiyang, saw the Red Army approaching Guiyang, and there was only one regiment around him. He asked the main force of the Yunnan army for emergency reinforcements and ordered the Hunan and the two armies to intercept the Red Army. The alarm was not lifted until the Red Army was found to be rushing southwest 30 or 40 miles east of Guiyang.
Just as the Kuomintang troops concentrated to the east of Guiyang, the main force of the Central Red Army suddenly turned sharply south from Qingshuijiang area, galloped in the direction of Yunnan, and approached Kunming at a marching speed of 60 kilometers per day.
At this time, most of the Yunnan troops have been transferred to Guiyang to "listen to orders", and the troops in and around Kunming are very empty. The troops pursued by Chiang Kai-shek are more than three days away from the Red Army. In order to save Kunming, Long Yun, the "King of Yunnan", asked the Sun Du column still east of Qujing to take a shortcut to Kunming, and mobilized vigilante groups from all over Yunnan to defend it.
This greatly weakened the defense forces in northern Yunnan and the south bank of the Jinsha River, and created favorable conditions for the Red Army to skillfully cross the Jinsha River.
Second, the clever use of "Dragon Rhyme Offering Pictures":
After the Red Army entered the East Yunnan Plain, it was unfamiliar with the local terrain and roads, only a completely omitted map, and its position and route were very inaccurate. It is completely explored by asking the guide step by step, and it is inevitable to take a detour.
Coincidentally, when the Red Army surrounded Qujing and headed for Malone, it intercepted a car from Kunming to deliver goods to Xue Yue. The car is full of Xuanwei ham, Yunnan Pu 'er tea and Baiyao. Most importantly, there is a beautifully printed military map of Yunnan1:100000. It turns out that Xue Yue doesn't have a military map of Yunnan, so let Long Yun send it.
Longyun was going to send a plane to deliver it, but the pilot suddenly fell ill and had to switch to a car. I didn't expect to be intercepted by the Red Army. These maps have provided great help for the Red Army's marching operations.
