Third, the source
Old Tang book
Extended data
First, the creative background
The Book of Old Tang Dynasty has 200 volumes, including 20 biographies, 30 memoirs and 150 biographies. Originally named Tang Shu, the New Tang Shu compiled by Song Qi and Ouyang Xiu was renamed Old Tang Shu after it was published.
The compilation of the Book of Old Tang Dynasty is not far from the demise of the Tang Dynasty, and the sources of information are also relatively rich.
Second, the appreciation of works
Because Song Qi and Ouyang Xiu, the authors of The Book of the New Tang Dynasty, are both great writers in the literary world, later generations generally followed their views and criticized the Book of the Old Tang Dynasty, which was described as "quite complicated" in the late Ming Dynasty. Indeed, it has many shortcomings. But in all fairness, it should be said that Uncle Tang has made great contributions to the truthful preservation of historical materials. This should be fully affirmed.
Old Tang books also preserved many precious items. For example, Biography of Lv Cai and Biography of Lu Zang-fei published two important articles against superstition respectively; Jia Dan Biography published a geographical catalogue compiled by him. These are important documents in the history of China's thoughts and geography.
Three. Brief introduction of the author
Liu Shao (AD 887-946), Yao Yuanren, a Guiyi native of Zhuozhou (now Xiongxian County, Hebei Province), a historian of the Five Dynasties and a politician in the late Jin Dynasty. After Tang Zhuang Zong, he served as a doctor in Taichang and a bachelor of Hanlin. Being an official in the late Jin Dynasty is commonplace and impartial. In the second year (945), the late Jin was appointed to supervise the revision of national history and was responsible for compiling the Book of Old Tang Dynasty. It is one of the twenty-four histories.

Incidentally, in the translation of classical Chinese, besides how to "translate", there is also a problem of how to "understand" the implication. If the translator doesn't think clearly about the implicit language (the translated modern Chinese is still implicit, ironic, insinuating and so on). ), he may be skeptical about his own translation, so that he will change it to a false one, such as "If it is the general will, I am the father of Wang Er, not" I am only the father of Qin, not the father of the whole world ",which is accurate. At the same time of translation, we must thoroughly understand its moral: I am not only the father of Qin, but also the father of the whole world. I want to love the whole world as much as my son-strictly enforce the law and not pardon my son who has committed a crime, which is in itself a father's love for the whole world. Only by "understanding" the implication can we be convinced of our own translation and maintain a good psychological state.
5. Translation of ancient Chinese: Emperor Wendi of Sui killed the descendants of Yuwen. Since ancient times, it has been easier for (the monarch) to win the world than Emperor Wen of Sui Dynasty. Relying on his concubines' father's kinship, he colluded with Zheng Yi and others when he died early this week, forged an imperial edict and entered the post of Fuzheng, only sitting on the ground and fighting to seize the throne. At that time, although Wei Chijiong, Yu Wenzhou, Shi Yi, Xi Pi, Wang Qian, Sima Xiaonan and others set out in an attempt to restore the Zhou family's inheritance, Emperor Wendi of Sui wiped it out in less than half a year with the help of the national strength of the Zhou Dynasty. Since then, he has been in power, killing descendants of Yuwen in turn, almost extinct. Now, according to Zhou Shu's records, the research is as follows:
The sons of Emperor Wen of Zhou, except Song Wenzhen, Yu Wenjian and Ji Wentong died early, Wei Wenzhi was killed early for his crime, and Zhao Zhaowen, Chen Wangyu Wenchun, Yue Wangyu Wensheng, Dai Wangyu Wenda and Teng Wangyu were all killed by Emperor Wen of Sui. And also killed Yu's son, Yu Shuji, Yu, Yu Ganxi, Yu Ganling, Yu Ganjian and others; Yu's sons are Yu, Yu Rang, Yu et al. Yu Wensheng's sons are Yu, Yu, Yu Wenzhong, Yu Wenxin and others; Yu Wenda's son Yu, Yu and others; Yu Wenyi's sons are Yu Wenyou, Yu Wenyu, Yu Liwen, Yu Wenxi and others. Yu Wenzhen's son Yu, Yu Wengan's son and Yu Wenxuan's son were also killed. Since then, all the descendants of Emperor Zhou Wen have died.
Emperor's son died early, and his son was also killed. Since then, the descendants of Emperor Jiemin have also been killed. Ming Di's sons Bi Wang Yuwenxian and Jia Wang Yuwenzhen were both killed. They also killed Yu Wenxian's sons Yu Wenhong, Yu Gongzheng and Yu Niang. Yu Wenzhen's son Yu Wenzhen and others. Since then, children in Ming Di have also been killed. The sons of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, Hanwang Yuwenzan, Qin Wang Yuwenzhi, Wang Cao Yuwenyun, Wang Tao Yuwenchong, Cai Wang Yuwendun and Wang Jing Yuwenyuan, were all killed. They also killed Yuwen Zan's sons Yuwen Morality, Yuwen Daozhi, Yuwen Morality and others. Yu Wenzhong's sons are Yu Wenzhong, Yu Wenzhong, Yu Wenjing and others. The rest (Yu Wenyun from Wang Cao, Yu Wenchong from Cai Wang, Yu Yu) have no children. Since then, the descendants of Emperor Wu have been killed. Xuan Di's son, Jing Di, was killed by Emperor Wendi of Sui Dynasty, and the other sons, Wang Yeyu Wenyan and Wang Ying Yuwen Shu, were all killed when they were young. Since then, all the descendants of Xuan Di have been killed.
Insiders of the imperial clan in the Zhou Dynasty: Yuwen Zhou was killed in response to Wei Chiqiong because he rose up. In addition, there are Yu Wenqia, Yu Yuchun and their sons Yu Zong, Yu Benren, Yu Linwu and their sons Yu Lixian. Yu Wenzhong and his sons Yu Wenzhong and Yu Shulun were all killed. Only Yu, because he was still young, was awarded the title of lord protector and became a guest of the Sui Dynasty. Soon, he was killed again. Since then, there has never been a living Yuwen clan.
Stealing other people's countries and killing their descendants until there is no legacy, is such cruelty still human? Then the five sons of Emperor Wendi of Sui Dynasty:
Yong Yang, the eldest son, died after being abolished.
The second son, Yang-ti, was killed. Later, the King of Qin died young, the King of Yue went to prison and died in Jiangdu.
Secondly, Hanwang Yang Liang was punished for rebellion. Except Yang Jun, the king of Qin, all five sons were spared.
Among Yong Yang's ten sons, Yang Yan was poisoned by poisoned wine, and Yu Yang, Yang Jun, Yang Ben, Yang Ke, Yang Gai, Andy, Yang Xiaoshi and Yang Xiaofan were all exiled to Lingnan and died under the staff. Yang Jun's sons Yang Hao and Yang Zhan, and Yang Xiu and Yang Liang's sons were all killed by Yu Wenhuaji.
Yang Zhao, the eldest son of Yang-ti, died young, and Yang Chang, the second brother of Qi and Levin, the second brother of Zhao, both died in Jiangdu. None of them has a son. Yang Gang, the son of Yang Zhao, was founded in the Tang Dynasty. It wasn't long before he became a Buddhist and was named husband. He died within a few months. His second son, Yangling, was also killed in Jiangdu, and Yang Dong, the king of Yue, proclaimed himself emperor in the East and was killed by the king. So there are no descendants left. Only the King of Qi, Yang Chang, had a posthumous son, Yang Cheng, who fled to Turkey with Xiao Taihou and later surrendered to the Tang Dynasty. The official position is to serve the royal family, and Yang's descendants survived by this blood. And the death of Yang-ti happened to be the work of a man named Yu Wen. (Same surname as Zhou, but not a cousin. This is not obvious retribution!
