Wu Qingjiang's personal profile
Wu Qingjiang, a native of Rong Qing Village, Shishi, was born into an extremely poor peasant family. In the old society, his surname was Wu. After graduating from Shiguang Middle School, he was admitted to Jimei Fisheries School. 1956 was assigned to work in Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Wuhan. 196 1 entered the Institute of Aquatic Sciences of Chinese Academy of Sciences to study ichthyology for four years and returned to work in the original unit.

1979 so far, as an assistant researcher, associate researcher and researcher. In 198 1 and 199 1, he visited the German Federal Center for Radiation and Environmental Research and the Edison Institute of Animal Biotechnology of Ohio University in the United States as a visiting scholar and a visiting professor respectively. He is currently the deputy director and doctoral supervisor of the Academic Committee of Institute of Aquatic Sciences, China Academy of Sciences. 199 1, secretary-general of the international society of aquatic genetics, final expert of the national natural science foundation, deputy director of the academic Committee of the State Key Laboratory of Freshwater Ecology and Biotechnology, and consultant of the expert group of the Fisheries Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture.

Wu Qingjiang is a famous expert in fish genetics and breeding at home and abroad. He has made outstanding contributions in three important fields: fish genetics and breeding, taxonomy and population ecology. In particular, many achievements have been made in the basic research of fish genetics and breeding, and remarkable popularization and application results have been achieved. Invited by foreign academic institutions for many times to give academic reports. He published nearly 100 academic papers, of which 16 were included in SCI. Monograph 1 department, participated in writing and editing 4 monographs. Invention patent 1. He has presided over many national key research projects, "863" projects, national natural science foundation, Chinese Academy of Sciences and provincial key projects, and achieved many international research achievements in carp genetics, fish parthenogenesis and rapid propagation technology, sex control, artificial polyploid breeding technology, etc., which opened up new technical ways for fish breeding.

Wu Qingjiang's scientific and technological achievements in fish genetics and breeding mainly include:

1, carp genetic markers and utilization of interspecific heterosis. In the early 1970s, he studied the inheritance of carp body color, pulp, protein and interspecific heterosis, and bred the first generation hybrid "Feng Carp", which took the lead in applying the interspecific heterosis of fish to production in China. In order to ensure the stability of heterosis and prevent possible genetic pollution, recessive homozygous genes were put forward as genetic markers for selecting and identifying pure parents, which promoted the research and utilization of fish economic hybridization in China. The promotion area of "Feng Carp" in 23 provinces and cities across the country exceeds 3 million mu, and the annual output value exceeds 80 million yuan. This project won the National Science and Technology Conference Award and the third prize of China Academy of Sciences for scientific and technological progress.

2. Combining artificial parthenogenesis with sex control, a new way of bioengineering for rapid propagation of fish was established. He completed the method of combining artificial gynogenesis with sex control for the first time at home and abroad, and quickly established a new way of fish pure line. His related papers were published six months and three years earlier than those published by American and Spanish counterparts respectively. On this basis, he cultivated a new strain of red carp 8305. The technique of fish species identification was established by using immunogenetics, protein polymorphism and molecular biology. This breeding method has become an effective way for international aquatic animal breeding, laying a solid foundation for the rapid propagation of large-scale economic fish. The research results won the first key research award of the Third Committee of the State Council and the second prize of natural science of China Academy of Sciences.

3. Cultivation and promotion of all-female carp. He studied the sex growth difference and sex determination mechanism of carp, combined the artificial gynogenesis with sex control, and cultivated an all-female carp with remarkable yield-increasing effect, and established a set of all-female fish production techniques. The growth rate of all-female carp is more than 20% faster than that of common hybrid carp, which has been popularized in the whole country 19 provinces and cities, with a breeding area of more than 500,000 mu, which is the first case that all-female carp has been applied to production practice on a large scale in the world. This achievement won the first prize of Hubei Science and Technology Progress Award and the third prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, and was identified by the State Science and Technology Commission as a key promotion project in the Eighth Five-Year Plan and the Ninth Five-Year Plan. This research result has attracted the attention of international counterparts. The United States-Israel Joint Foundation plans to establish similar scientific research projects, and specially invites Wu Qingjiang as the main reviewer.

4. Put forward some new ideas about artificial polyploidy of fish and apply them to breeding practice. International aquatic genetics and breeding circles generally believe that artificial triploid fish is sterile. However, as early as the end of 1970s, Wu Qingjiang put forward a bold idea of preventing hybrid segregation and degeneration by inducing artificial hybrid triploid. Through a large number of experiments, he put forward the argument that artificial triploid with three complete sets of chromosomes may be fertile. After 10 years of repeated experiments, it was found that some female eggs of artificial triploid carp could mature and lacked the first meiosis. The parthenogenetic clone of compound triploid carp with natural gynogenetic characteristics was obtained for the first time through breeding. Then, it is found that the mature egg nuclei of a few artificial triploid females can be fused with near sperm-like nuclei, and allotetraploid parthenogenetic clones can be formed through genome superposition. The individuals in these two cloning systems are all females with natural gynogenetic ability, and their gynogenetic offspring have the genetic characteristics of inseparable female parents. The relationship between genome overlap and fish reproduction mode is put forward, which opens up a new way for the breeding of lower vertebrates and makes great contributions to international aquatic genetic breeding. His research achievement won the second prize of natural science of China Academy of Sciences.

Wu Qingjiang devoted himself to the study of fish classification, population ecology and population genetics, and made great achievements. His scientific research achievements won the second prize of the National Natural Science Award. He deserves to be a famous expert in aquatic products.

From 65438 to 0992, Wu Qingjiang enjoyed special government allowance from the State Council. In the same year, he was awarded the title of doctoral supervisor and outstanding young and middle-aged expert in Hubei Province.

He attached great importance to training talents, cared about students and trained a number of senior scientific and technological talents for the country. Nine of his students and graduate students received doctorates, two of them won the Dean's Award of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and were respectively awarded the first prize of 1 Di 'ao, and 1 researcher was promoted, and seven of them were promoted to associate professor or associate researcher.

200 1, Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences strongly recommended Wu Qingjiang as an academician candidate of China Academy of Engineering.

Although Wu Qingjiang is over 60 years old, he is still fighting in the front line of water life in China, making every effort to contribute to the motherland and mankind.
