Article 11 of the Organic Law of Villagers' Committees of the People's Republic of China

The chairman, vice-chairman and members of the villagers' committee are directly elected by the villagers. The term of office of the villagers' committee is three years, and the general election shall be held in time at the expiration of the term. Members of villagers' committees may be re-elected.

Article 13

Villagers who have reached the age of 18 have the right to vote and stand for election regardless of nationality, race, sex, occupation, family background, religious belief, education level, property status and length of residence; However, except those who are deprived of political rights according to law, before the election of the villagers' committee, the following persons shall be registered and included in the list of villagers participating in the election.
