1995 obtained a master's degree in regional studies from Harvard University.
In 2002, he received a doctorate in anthropology from Harvard University.
During his study at Harvard, he studied anthropology under arthur kleinman, Watson and Hertzfeld, and was deeply influenced by Harvard anthropology. Together with his colleagues, he promoted Fudan anthropology to internationalization and specialization, and also promoted Fudan anthropology to form its own characteristics, such as focusing on medical anthropology, business anthropology and technical anthropology.
From 2002 to 2005, he taught at the School of Foreign Affairs of Georgetown University and the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) of Johns Hopkins University.
In 2006, he officially returned to the School of Social Management of Fudan University to teach.
At Harvard University, Georgetown University, SAIS and Fudan University, the following undergraduate and postgraduate courses have been independently offered: medical anthropology, political anthropology, developmental anthropology, culture and political theory (discourse and practice), cultural anthropology, anthropological theory, diet and culture, selected readings of primitive anthropology, China society, China urban research and qualitative research theory.
