In fact, what many people don't know is that Feng Hou is a famous agricultural scientist and cucumber breeding expert in China. Feng Hou, male, 1928, Pingdu. 1954 After graduating from Beijing Agricultural University, I have been engaged in vegetable breeding research in Tianjin, especially cucumber breeding research. In his later years, Feng Hou was interviewed by the industry media. He once said: "In the 1950s, there were few varieties of vegetables planted in China, with low yield and serious diseases, and many farmers were at a loss. At that time, we were investigating underground all day. " In fact, when he was in the suburbs of Tianjin after the wind, he witnessed the whole cucumber field fail due to disease, and the farmers were very miserable. In this case, the wind immediately decided to "engage in cucumber breeding" and studied it for a lifetime.
In fact, since the 1960s, Feng Hou took the lead in carrying out research on cucumber breeding for disease resistance in China, presided over the national key scientific and technological project of cucumber breeding, and gradually conquered several diseases of cucumber such as downy mildew, powdery mildew and Fusarium wilt by using widely introduced domestic and foreign variety resources, completely changing the situation of low yield and poor quality of cucumber and reaching the advanced level in the world. By the end of 20 19, Feng Hou and his team had cultivated more than 80 cucumber varieties in 6 series, including Jin Yan, Jinza, Jinchun, Jinyou, Jin Dong and Jinmei. Among them, the first three generations of breeding achievements became the main varieties in China in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s respectively.
Over the years, Feng Hou has also won many awards, including the second prize of national scientific and technological progress and the second prize of national invention. 1999, Feng Hou was elected as an academician of China Academy of Engineering. Because of his outstanding performance in cucumber research, he is also called "the king of cucumber". In 200 1 year, Feng Hou became the first winner of Tianjin Science and Technology Major Achievement Award, with a prize of 500,000 yuan and a special contribution award of 6,543,800 yuan from Tianjin Academy of Agricultural Sciences. He is still engaged in research in his later years after the wind. He believes that cucumber breeding must keep pace with the times, adopt advanced biological and genetic engineering technology, constantly improve disease resistance and reach the standard of pollution-free food.
In fact, since 2020, China has bid farewell to 34 academicians of the two academies, all of whom are top talents in various fields.
