Chen Duxiu (1879 19421October 9-1May 27, 942), formerly known as Chen Qingtong and Chen Gansheng, from Huaining, Anhui Province, was an advocate, initiator and main standard-bearer of the New Culture Movement, and was the "Commander-in-Chief of the May 4th Movement" in China.
