Shaoyaoshan Township was founded in September 1984, and was cut off from the edges of four people's communes at that time: Chengguan, Mazhuang, Xinzhuang and Xujiaya. It belongs to the pure Qingshishan township, 198 hills and 26 river basins, which is a relatively backward place in the economic and cultural foundation of Feixian County.

Shaoyaoshan Township is rich in walnuts, persimmons and peppers, and it is the production township of yellow smoke and honeysuckle. Since the town was founded 18 years ago, especially since 1996, more than 2 million walnuts have been newly planted, forming 2 million mu of walnut orchards in the eight major river basins of Dawan, Wan Dongjing, Xingshugou, Louziyu, Duckling, Niujiaoyu, Tianjingwang and Lianhuazhuang. It has become the largest and most concentrated high-quality walnut production base in Shandong Province, and has been listed as a demonstration base for scientific and technological achievements of fruit trees by the Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

Shaoyaoshan Township is rich in limestone resources, which have been preliminarily developed. Tianjingwang area's Tianjing stone is famous all over the country, and it is a treasure among craft stones, which has extremely high ornamental value and collection value. Southwest Valley is one of the only two producing areas of Shangshuishi in Feixian County.

The animal husbandry in Shaoyaoshan Township is developed, mainly raising sheep and rabbits. The annual output of slaughtered sheep and rabbit hair ranks first in the county.

Crops mainly include sweet potatoes, wheat, corn, peanuts and millet. It is the largest sweet potato seedling supply base in the county. In 2000, the per capita net income of farmers was 2030 yuan. Fermat Highway runs through the town, and every village has access to highways, electricity, running water, program-controlled telephones and cable TV.
