Wu Jiaduo was born in Linhai, Zhejiang. She has a nice German nickname "DuDu", which was given to her by her German teammate in Wujiaduo, because the sound "Duo" was pronounced "Du" by Germans. Wu Jiaduo, who holds the racket in his right hand, is a player who plays raw forehand at close range and is proactive in pushing and blocking.

Wu Jiaduo's father is Wu Xiaoming, a famous table tennis coach in Zhejiang Province. Under his example, Wu Jiaduo began to receive professional table tennis training in China at the age of 7. She joined the Zhejiang Sports Team on 1989, and began to participate in the National Youth Championship on 1989. She 1995 became the champion of Zhejiang province, and 1996 was selected as the second national team, in the same batch as Angelababy and Li Ju.
