Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture (proverb:), referred to as Yanbian Prefecture or Yanbian for short, is located at the border between China and North Korea in the east of Jilin Province, China. It is one of the minority autonomous prefectures in China, with Yanji City (county-level city) as the capital, covering an area of 43,300 square kilometers and a population of 2 1.2 million (20 17).

Yanbian is located in the southeast of Jilin Province, with latitude 4159 ′ 47 ″-44 30 ′ 42 ″ north and longitude127 27 ′ 43 ″-1318 ′ 33 ″ east.
Yanji is the capital of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture in Jilin Province and the center of politics, economy, culture and foreign exchanges in the whole state. Located in the east of Jilin Province, in the middle of Yanbian Prefecture, at the northern foot of Changbai Mountain.
Yanji, located in the hinterland of Northeast Asian economic circle, is a fulcrum of China in the Great "Golden Triangle" of Tumen River drawn up by the United Nations.
