Master of Tzu Chi, whose ancestral home is Xiaogan,1921August 16, was born in Yilie Lane, Qiaokou, Wuhan, a big family named Yilin. The common name of the mage is Lin Lanying, and his ancestors believed in Buddhism.
The master is 93 years old. 10 years old, he became a monk in Yin Qi Temple in Hankou. He is a disciple of Master Tai Xu's Dharma Pulse. 1940, under the seat of the psychic monk in Hanyang Guiyuan Temple, he was given a big ring by the monks. He graduated from Hankou Yinqi Buddha College and taught in his early years. He served as the deputy director of Na Wei Temple and Yin Qi Temple.
During the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression period, Chairman Mao called on the people of the whole country to unite against Japan in Yan 'an. Master Yuan Ying, the leader of the Buddhist community, electrified the national Buddhist community in Lushan Mountain and called for the organization of an anti-Japanese rescue team. Daxin monks from the three major Buddhist temples in Wuchang organized the Wuhan Buddhist Sangha anti-Japanese rescue team. Young monks from Guiyuan Temple and Baotong Temple actively signed up, 100 more than one monk joined the anti-Japanese rescue team.
Yin Qi Temple in Hankou is the rear. Please ask the head nurse of the Red Cross to teach family members to learn nursing knowledge. After the fall of Wuhan, Master Ci Xue was only fifteen or sixteen years old, but she loved the motherland, adhered to national integrity, joined the anti-Japanese and national salvation team with all Nepalese masters, rescued the wounded in the rear, cleaned and bandaged the wounds, which reflected the great patriotic enthusiasm of the monks.
After the liberation of the whole country, in February 1950, the Wuhan municipal government helped the Buddhist community to set up the "Preparatory Committee of Wuhan Buddhist Federation", relying on this organization to investigate and register the situation of temples, monks and nuns and lay people in the city. At that time, Master Ci Xue was a member of this preparatory committee, and was responsible for the registration of monks and nuns and laymen in temples in Wuchang area. In her work, she actively encourages her Buddhist colleagues to participate in social construction. In the Buddhist world, she has successively established the Wuhan No.2 Cotton Textile Production Cooperation Group, the Li Sheng Sewing Production Self-help Group, the Tenth Children's Wear Hat Co-operative, the State-run Recreation Hat Factory, and the Infinite Voltage Plastic Parts Factory, and served as the group leader, deputy director, trade union chairman and master deputy director.
195 1 year 1 month, Master Ci Xue participated in Buddhist activities to resist US aggression and aid Korea. At that time, more than 2,500 disciples of the four major Buddhists in Wu Hanyou held demonstrations to resist US aggression and aid Korea, defend the country and strive for lasting peace in the world. Chen, a layman, served as the chairman of the meeting and delivered a speech entitled "Buddhists Rise to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea and Protect Our Country". Subsequently, the Buddhist Committee to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea was established to organize the production of condolence bags. The Zhongni people in Yin Qi Temple in Hankou, where Master Ci Xue lives, set up a sock knitting group (later joined the women's sewing factory in the city) to rush to transport military supplies for the volunteers to resist US aggression and aid Korea. In the same year, during the celebration of March 8th International Women's Day, the Wuhan Municipal Government held a meeting of female model workers in Hankou New World Plaza. Wuhan Women's Sewing and Weaving Factory, which studied Master Ci, was praised by the government for its excellent completion of the military supply task of resisting US aggression and aiding Korea. The master himself was also rated as an advanced model worker, and he was the only monk among the model workers. She is the first person in Wuhan Buddhist circles to participate in political activities.
In June, 1953 was elected by Wuhan Youth Federation, and Master Ci Xue represented Buddhism and Taoism at the Second National Youth Congress in China, and was cordially received by Chairman Mao, Premier Zhou and Mr. Zhu in Beijing. Premier Zhou made an important speech at the meeting. He said: Everyone is a representative of the youth of the whole country and a member of the United front. You should study hard. Now we are building a new China, and we will soon open our doors to welcome international friends. You are all members of the international United front and should serve the reception of foreign friends. To accomplish the task of developing the international United front, the responsibility lies with everyone. The old mage remembered these words for decades, which became her confidence and strength of selfless dedication to the country, society, people and Buddhism for decades.
Since 1955, the master of Tzu Chi has been elected as the people's representative of Jianghan District and a member of CPPCC. After 1980, the master of Tzu Chi served as the sixth, seventh and eighth members of Wuhan CPPCC, actively participated in the discussion of state affairs, made suggestions for the government and solved problems for the people.
1957 Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge opened to traffic. Representatives of the world youth parties visited the Yangtze River Bridge, and Master Tzu Chi participated in the reception. He was the only monk among the youth representatives. Interestingly, there was a foreign young man in the delegation who was particularly interested in meeting Master Ci. He took Master Ci away for questioning. Because of the language barrier, Master Ci was afraid. Unexpectedly, he asked an interpreter: How many monks are there in China and how many monks are there in Wu Hanyou ... It turns out that this foreign boy has an 83-year-old aunt who became a monk at the age of six. Before liberation, I visited four famous mountains in China, and I admired the jungle life of China monks who went to the temple to sit on incense. After liberation, I wonder if there are still people in New China who believe in Buddhism and become monks? When the young man came to China, her aunt specially asked him to come to Wuhan to study Buddhism in Wuhan. In the communication with this foreign youth, the master of Tzu Chi publicized * * *, introduced the situation of new China, and let international friends know the superiority of socialist and religious policies.
During the Cultural Revolution, religious policies were disturbed, Buddhism was the hardest hit, and many monks were forced to return to the secular world. In order to adhere to Buddhist beliefs and keep Sanskrit clean, Tzu Chi master once fasted for four days without touching water. Later, under the enlightenment and persuasion of Daxin monk and Changming elder, I regained my confidence in the future of Buddhism, persisted, and decided to be a vegetarian and single, showing my lofty demeanor as a practitioner.
1977, when the religious policy was implemented, Master Ci Xue worked in Wuhan Wireless Voltage Plastic Parts Factory. Elder Changming seconded a master of Tzu Chi to Guiyuan Temple to revise the history of Buddhism in Wuhan. 1980 After the Buddhist Association of provinces and cities resumed work, Master Ci Xue served as the vice president. She actively assisted the government to fully implement the religious policy, especially the restoration of major temples in Wuhan, especially the construction of Lianxi Temple in Wuchang.
Known as "the first female jungle in Hubei", Lianxi Temple in Wuchang was once a bhikkhu jungle in history. During the Cultural Revolution, the temple was occupied by relevant units, and Buddhist activities were resumed only after the religious policy was implemented in 1978. 1984, under the guidance of the Municipal Bureau of Religious Affairs, the Municipal Buddhist Association held an office meeting of its president, decided to change Lianxi Temple into the Bichuni jungle, and invited the vice presidents of the provincial and municipal Buddhist associations to take charge of abbot affairs. On September 1986, 15, all the monks headed by Doggett became monks, left Lianxi Temple and settled in Baotong Temple, officially changing Lianxi Temple into a bhikshuni jungle. Since then, under the auspices of Master Tzu Chi, the history of Buddhism in Wuhan has turned a shining page in the Bhikuni jungle.
Master Tzu Chi led a group of monks to Lianxi Temple and began the comprehensive restoration of the Dojo. At that time, Lianxi Temple started from scratch economically. The houses in the main hall were in disrepair, almost uninhabitable, and there were no statues of Buddha and Bodhisattva. At first, there were only six permanent residents who experienced the Cultural Revolution. Facing a temple in ruins, the master of Tzu Chi devoted countless jobs with superhuman wisdom and professionalism, and finally fulfilled his wish in the pure land of downtown with amazing perseverance.
The cultivation of Buddhist talents is the first consideration of Tzu Chi masters. Today's Sangha education is the development and hope of Buddhism tomorrow. Master Tzu Chi has a clear understanding of this. While restoring the temple, he devoted himself to the education in Zhong Ni and paid attention to the cultivation of talents. 1987, she personally founded the training course of loving Taoism in Lianxi Temple. 1994, she helped Master Chang Ming restore the Wuchang Buddhist College, which is famous at home and abroad. Lianxi Temple Aidao Training Course has become an all-round class of Wuchang Buddhist College, an earlier Buddhist institution in China after the Third Plenary Session, and has implemented religious policies. Master Ci Xue has served as the vice president of the Buddhist College so far. Thanks to the compassion of Tzu Chi masters, a large number of monks and nuns with firm conscience, pure faith, noble virtue, profound knowledge of precepts, clear religious rules, good management and good cultural quality stand out and cultivate outstanding talents.
1998 was approved by the Chinese Buddhist Association.
In 2000, master Tzu Chi overcame all kinds of difficulties and founded a law research society. Specializing in the study of the three major divisions of the legalist Nanshan, and cultivating master monks who know and understand the Dharma, Nepal's Dojo has laws to follow, such as being prepared for danger in times of peace, being self-indulgent, chanting and even preaching, and the overall quality of Nepal's Dojo has been further improved.
More than 20 years have passed, and the education of Buddhist monks' groups in Wuchang Buddhist College promoted by Tzu Chi master of Lianxi Temple in Wuchang has graduated many Buddhist monks' groups at preparatory, undergraduate and postgraduate levels, which are spread all over the country, and some of them have traveled overseas to preach, with fruitful results. Many of them have become the backbone of contemporary Buddhism.
In August, 2005, more than 500 people attended the meeting, including Master Sheng Hui, Vice President of Chinese Buddhist Association, Huang Xianyou, Deputy Director of Hubei Religious Affairs Committee, Cheng Kangyan, Deputy Secretary of Wuhan Municipal Committee and Vice Mayor of Tu Yong, and other provincial and municipal leaders, various religious groups in Wuhan and four disciples of Wuhan Buddhism. The United Front Work Department of the Municipal Party Committee and the Citizens' Committee made a decision on commending Chang Ming and Ci Xue. Deputy Secretary Cheng Kangyan and Vice Mayor Tu Yong presented honorary certificates of patriotism and love for education to the principal and vice principal of Ci School respectively.
It embodies the virtuous and upright character of the kind old mage. During his twenty years as abbot, Master Ci Xue painted a grand blueprint for the future of Lianxi Temple. Today, the whole temple lives with fellow initiates according to the Six Honors, and the water and milk are harmonious and equal. Throughout the year, adhere to practice as the law, go to the temple, recite spells, settle in summer and meditate. Its characteristics of standardization, dignity, learning and practicality have been widely recognized and praised by the Buddhist community. The purgation of Taoism, the clean environment and the practice of Buddhism have made Lianxi Temple repeatedly rated as "the five major places for religious activities" and become one of the top ten Nepalese learning resorts.
Although the master of Tzu Chi is 90 years old, we can still see some naughty, naive and innocent expressions from her casual smiles and actions. She is already a big elder in Buddhism, but she has repeatedly stressed that she is just a "little monk". Whenever she sees a monk, even a monk in his twenties, the kind old mage will bow down to them. She is always so modest.
