Sun Tao was born in 1988. He is a member of Sanda Team of Hainan Armed Police Corps and an outstanding Sanda athlete in Hainan Province. He studied under Yang Jianhou in 2000 and represented China against foreign boxers five times.

He won the 75 kg class championship of the National Armed Police Sanda twice. Represented China in five fights with foreign boxers, including three fights with Thai boxers. He scored 2 wins/KLOC-0-0, and won a game against a freedom fighter.
