Yang Wei, a native of Xiantao, Hubei Province, is a gymnast and a gold medalist in gymnastics at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. He is an all-around athlete, and his strengths are rings and parallel bars. In 2006 and 2007, he won the all-around world championship twice in a row. He was the first athlete to accomplish this feat after Yugoslav star Perthar Su Mi defended the World Championship All-around Champion 8 1926, and was called the hero of China.
