Jacques-yves cousteau's "Defence of the Sea"
Coustau regards the sea and marine life as "friends of mankind". As early as 1960, he suggested that President Charles de Gaulle order the prohibition of dumping industrial wastes containing radioactive substances into the Mediterranean Sea. From 65438 to 0985, he made a voyage of "rediscovering the world". During this voyage, Coustau found that the marine pollution was serious, and the good scenery of the 1950s was gone forever. It was human beings who destroyed the marine environment. He said bitterly that human beings have betrayed the ocean and are no longer its friends. This year, Coustau was 75 years old. He became famous and possessed great wealth. However, this tireless soldier devoted himself to another battle: defending the ocean and protecting the living environment of mankind. Cousteau has his own views on environmental protection. He believes that no matter where the environment goes wrong, the government's responsibility is the first and incumbent; He also believes that the environmental movement must be mass and international. Coustau used his reputation and good relations with many countries to travel around the world. Together with several scientists, he drafted the Declaration for Future Generations, collected 5 million signatures and sent them to United Nations Headquarters, demanding that the main contents of the Declaration be written into the Charter of the United Nations. He suggested to UNESCO to set up a "green helmet" to protect the environment. Although these suggestions and ideas were not put into practice, Coustau made the world hear his worried appeal and felt the urgency of protecting the environment.
