Following the construction projects of Changchun Economic and Technological Development Zone, Changchun High-tech Industrial Development Zone and Changchun Jingyuetan Tourism Economic Development Zone, the new large-scale infrastructure construction in Changchun Airport Development Zone is about to enter a substantive stage. The construction plan of Changchun Airport Development Zone was officially released yesterday. Changchun Airport Development Zone is listed as one of the three major construction projects in our province during the 11th Five-Year Plan period. After the completion of Changchun Longjia International Airport, Governor Wang Min put forward the strategic concept of "building airport development zones with high-tech industries and service industries as carriers on the two wings of the airport, relying on Longjia International Airport to focus on developing high-tech industries and emerging service industries such as software, and gradually extending to Changchun and Kyrgyzstan to build a platform for building Changji industrial belt". On June 26, 2006, the general office of the provincial government formally decided to set up the leading group of Changchun Airport Development Zone with document No.89 issued by Kyrgyzstan.

After more than half a year's preparatory work, the location of Changchun Airport Development Zone has finally been determined. The initial planning area is 79 square kilometers, starting from Donghuan Road, Changji Railway and longxi village, Endeavour Township, Kuancheng District in the east; North to Xinghua Village in Kuancheng District and three villages on the southern border; East to the border of Liujiazi Village, Kalun Town, Jiutai City; South to Jilin Road, Sitong Road and Changji Expressway, with a planned area of 79 square kilometers. With the development of airport economy, the long-term plan is to push eastward and northward along 102 national highway and1kloc-0/provincial highway, covering an area of about 600 square kilometers.

Airport Development Zone has four functional zones, namely, high-tech industrial zone, modern manufacturing zone, bonded logistics supporting zone, airport and service zone. As a radiation platform for the construction of Changji industrial belt, it has become a new area for the rapid development of Northeast Asian economic circle.
