Why did western medical social work develop before China?
The whole social work was born and developed in the west, not in the field of medical social work. Because now the whole social life system is based on the development of western society. For the west, the social work industry is a natural part of its social development. From the "Elizabethan Poor Law" in Britain to the "social diagnosis" in Richmond, it is a microcosm of western social changes. For our country, all this is actually an "exotic product", so there is bound to be a process of "grafting", so this is why it came later.

It should be noted that medical social work is the earliest professional field of social work in China. As early as the 1920s, Pu Aide, an American girl born in China, founded the Social Service Department in Peking Union Medical College Hospital, which was the earliest social work in China. However, due to historical reasons, the construction and development of this major was not resumed until the 1980s.
