One: Why study?
Some people say that men don't read the Three Kingdoms and women don't read The West Chamber. Judging from the contents of these two books, the three countries are all swords and shadows, cheating on each other and running counter to the way of being a man. People play politics and advocate strategy, while men see intrigue and fraud, so they are easy to think, which is not conducive to social stability.
The West Chamber tells the story of a talented person and a beautiful woman eloping for love. When a woman reads it, it is easy to get divorced from reality, fall into fantasy and even have an affair. This kind of behavior against feudal ethics was intolerable by morality at that time, and it was better not to read.
Of course, this was said a hundred years ago, but people stood in different angles and positions. But in any case, the classic Dream of Red Mansions should be the first choice for the world to read. There is a saying like this: "It's no use just talking about a dream of red mansions and reading all the poems." San Mao said that A Dream of Red Mansions is a book to be read for a lifetime. Zhou said that A Dream of Red Mansions is a unique "cultural novel" of our Chinese nation through the ages and is the most representative work of our Chinese nation. Bai Xianyong said: A Dream of Red Mansions is the greatest novel in China's literary history. It is my literary bible with inexhaustible passwords.
In a word, A Dream of Red Mansions is a human novel with world influence, recognized as the pinnacle of China's classical novels, an encyclopedia of China's feudal society and a master of traditional culture. The book covers all aspects and classes of feudal society, including politics, economy, culture, architecture, traditional Chinese medicine, marriage, diet, aesthetics, Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism, etc. The characters involved are very complicated, ranging from royalty to paupers. Whether it is ideological or artistic, it has reached its peak. This is an unprecedented work with high historical, literary, ideological and humanistic values. In a sense, it is also an ode to women. The author skillfully borrowed Jia Baoyu's words to make an accurate exposition: "Daughters are made of water and men are made of mud. Seeing my daughter refreshed me; I feel turbid and unpleasant when I see a man. " The book spends a lot of space on words, enthusiastically eulogizes women of different classes and identities, and expresses deep sympathy for their tragic fate. Not only that, the book also implies that the human feelings of the society are warm and cold, and the world is cold, warning the world to be a man. The so-called "everything is learned when things are clear, and articles are written when people are clear." Therefore, whether it is a scholarly family or an ordinary family, especially as a scholar, it will be a great regret in life if you don't read a dream of red mansions!
Second: How to read?
This book takes the rise and fall of Jia, Shi, Wang and Xue as the background, takes Jia's family chores and boudoir leisure as the main line, and takes the love and marriage stories of Bao, Dai and Baochai as the main line, deeply and meticulously portrays the beauty of human nature and tragedy centered on Jia Baoyu and Twelve Women in Jinling, and reveals the crisis in the last days of feudalism through family tragedies and character tragedies. The author profoundly criticized the darkness of the real society, the decay of feudal nobles and their families, the feudal imperial examination system, the marriage system, the handmaiden system, the hierarchical system, and the corresponding feudal ruling ideas and feudal moral concepts, and put forward hazy ideas and propositions with preliminary democracy. Although some wonderful chapters in A Dream of Red Mansions are extracted from middle school Chinese textbooks, such as Xiangling's poems, Lin Daiyu's coming into Jia's house and complaining to her heart, Baoyu's beating, the investigation of the Grand View Garden, the death of Daiyu and so on. Can only be taken out of context. Only by reading the whole article can we really understand the author's creative intention and the essence of the work.
First reading
When reading A Dream of Red Mansions for the first time, don't expect to understand it once, but every time you read it, you will feel different. The more you read and understand, the more comprehensive you will be. First of all, different levels have different understandings of the works. Different family backgrounds, different ages, different cultural attainments, different social experiences and life experiences will all affect the distance for readers to interpret the original works. Even if the same person reads in different historical periods, he will have different understandings. Secondly, the scenery you see is different from the angle you stand on. As the saying goes, "From the side of the ridge, the heights are too cold", just as Mr. Lu Xun said, "Scholars see the Book of Changes, Taoism sees lewdness, talented people see lingering, revolutionaries see the rows full, gossips see the secret things in the palace ..." It can be said that "benevolent people have different opinions, and wise people see wisdom". Therefore, you can read it for the first time without great understanding, but you must finish the whole story: the general idea. Close to the word "love", the story begins with love and ends with love. As long as we grasp the main line of love and marriage between Bao, Dai and Baochai, get a general understanding of the stories in the book, preliminarily straighten out the relationship between the main characters, and simply understand the personality characteristics of the main characters and the roots of their personal tragedies and social tragedies, we can meet the basic reading requirements.
Of course, knowing the author's life and the background of this book before reading will help us to understand the author's original intention and the connotation of the work in depth and comprehensively.
Cao Xueqin (about1765438+May 28th, 2005-about1February 763 12), whose real name is Zhan, real name, real name and real name is Qin Pu, is the author of China's classic Dream of Red Mansions. His ancestral home is Tieling, Liaoning, and his ancestral home is Jiangning (now Nanjing). Cao Xueqin experienced a luxurious and romantic life in Nanjing Jiangning Weaving Institute in his early years. In the sixth year of Yongzheng (1728), the Cao family was robbed of their property because of a deficit, and Cao Xueqin moved back to his former residence in Beijing with his family. Later, he moved to the western suburbs of Beijing and made a living by selling calligraphy and painting and helping his friends. Since then, the Cao family has been devastated and declining. After a major turning point in his life, Cao Xueqin felt that the world was cold and had a clearer and deeper understanding of feudal society. With perseverance and years of hard work, he finally created a dream of red mansions with great ideological and artistic features, which lasted for 27 years (1762). His youngest son died prematurely, and he was bedridden with grief and grief. In the 28th year of Qianlong (1763), he died of poverty on New Year's Eve (12 February).
Second, selected reading
On the basis of initial reading, carefully reading the key chapters and contents of the works can play a role in getting to the point and summarizing the outline.
1, Zhen Yinshi's dream is psychic (the first time)
Opening the book explains the origin of the book and the predestined love in previous lives, the protagonist. It turned out that the goddess of mending heaven abandoned a stubborn stone at the foot of Geng Qingfeng on the barren cliff of the big barren mountain. After exercise, this stone has become clear, quiet and dynamic in spirit, and the hearts of ordinary people have become hot. He begged scholars and real people (together with a monk) to take it to the bustling gang, the house of poetry and ceremony, the bustling land of flowers and willows, and the warm and rich towns to settle down and enjoy it. After several generations of robbery, the story of a fallen hometown and the place where he was born again was vividly engraved on a stone and named "The Story of the Stone".
Empty Taoist priests are talking about love because they see the colors in the air, express their feelings from the colors, and express their feelings into the colors, which is really incomparable to other books, so they copied it back from beginning to end and made a legend, renamed the Record of Love Monks. Meixi, the east foot of the sky, inscribed "Yue Feng Treasures". Cao Xueqin read it for ten years, added and deleted it five times, compiled it into a table of contents and divided it into chapters, and then he got Twelve Women in Jinling.
The monk talked with the real dream: there is a crimson pearl grass next to the Sansheng stone on the west bank of Linghe River. Because Shen Ying, the waiter in the Red Defect Palace (the embodiment of the stubborn stone) irrigates the years with nectar every day, takes off the grass embryo and repairs it into a female body, and then goes down to earth with Shen Ying, hoping to repay the irrigation for a lifetime with tears, so he interprets a romantic and euphemistic love affair with wood and stone. ...
2, Leng Zixing speech rong-guo mansion (the second time)
With the help of Leng Zixing, the author narrates the identities and relationships of the main characters in Jia Jianing and Rongfu, which is helpful to arouse readers' interest and promote the development of the story, and also hints at various phenomena of "seemingly true but also false" in the text.
3. Wandering in fantasy refers to the performance of twelve women drinking immortals (the fifth time) on a dream of red mansions. From the content, the fifth time is the general outline and foreshadowing of the book. Jia Baoyu felt that it was difficult to tell the truth from the truth in the dreamland where he hated the sky and drowned in the sea and the fragrant caves in the spring mountains were exhausted. The various judgments led by the police fairy in the songs of Bad Teacher and Dream of Red Mansions all imply the development of the whole story and the final outcome of the fate of various characters, so understanding this time is the key to understanding the contents of the book. HarmonyOS system at the beginning of A Dream of Red Mansions, who is the lover? It's all about romance. Take this day, when you are sad and lonely, try to send your stupidity out. So, in fact, the performance of this golden mourning jade "Dream of Red Mansions". The twelve songs and the judgments of the twelve women in Jinling complement each other and correspond to each other, indicating the fate and ending of the main characters in the book.
Third, intensive reading.
In addition to the above-mentioned character judgments and Twelve Poems of a Dream of Red Mansions, readers should also grasp the following aspects to interpret them attentively.
1. The successful creation of many characters is an outstanding artistic achievement of A Dream of Red Mansions. Although there are more than 400 characters before and after the book, each character has a distinct personality, but it is not difficult to understand as long as we grasp the main characters in the book, so the content of the third "Lin Daiyu enters Jia Fu" can not be let go. In front of Lin Daiyu, the main characters appear in turn, and the author describes them from the perspective of Daiyu.
Three sisters:
The first one is slightly plump, of medium build, with fresh plums on his cheeks and greasy goose fat on his nose. He is gentle and silent and amiable in appearance.
The second one has a thin waist and shoulders, a slender figure, an oval face and fine eyes, looking around and flying around, forgetting the customs.
The third is short stature, which is described as small. Its hairpin ring skirt coat, three people are decorated together.
In a few strokes, the lovely images of three sisters, Yingchun, Tanchun and Xichun, are vividly displayed to readers.
Wang Xifeng is an important figure in the book, and the author uses the writing method of "hearing his voice before meeting his person" to deepen the reader's impression. I came late and didn't meet the guests from far away! Laughter came from the backyard and I saw a group of daughters-in-law and maids coming in through the back door around a person. This person is dressed differently from other girls ... a pair of phoenix eyes, two curved willow leaves hanging between the eyebrows, slim figure, enchanting physique, pink face with spring force and red lips before laughing. You can feel Wang Xifeng's extraordinary only from her appearance and language description. Looking at the familiar Jia Baoyu: ... his face is like a mid-autumn moon, his color is like spring flowers, his sideburns are cut with knives, his eyebrows are like ink paintings, his face is like peach petals, and his eyes are like eyes. If you sometimes laugh when you are angry, you will look at it with affectionate eyes. Cao Gong's ingenious pen shows a charming, simple and infatuated image of your son. Lin Daiyu's unique image is portrayed through Jia Baoyu's eyes, which is really "beauty is in the eye of the lover": two frowning brows, a pair of eyes like joy but not joy. The state has two sorrows, and it is sick. Tears a little, breath slightly. When you are free, it shines like a beautiful flower on the water, and when you act, it looks like a weak willow tree. The heart knows better than the stem, and the disease is not as good as the west. Cao Xueqin skillfully combined the appearance, life experience and fate of the characters, and wrote that Lin Daiyu was "beautiful and intelligent, suspicious by nature, aloof and sensitive, and sickly", and was worthy of being a master of writing. Therefore, every time we read a character, we should carefully analyze his appearance, and we can link the description of the character with his life experience, identity and fate, and we will gain something.
2. Check Daguan Garden (back to 74th) and Ningguo House (back to 105).
The former and the latter are mutually causal, the former is an ominous sign of Jia's rise and fall, and the latter is the reality of Jia's rise and fall. Therefore, we should read these two parts carefully to understand the real reason of Jia's decline and fall.
"The tree is gone", and there is no banquet that never ends. "All of a sudden, it is like a building, and like a lamp went out, ah! One happy and one sad. Sighing that the world is hard to decide! "
3. Bury incense and swallow and weep (Daiyu buries flowers) (the 27th time)
Lin Daiyu burned the manuscript, which broke her infatuation with Xue Baochai's wedding ceremony (the death of Daiyu) (the 96th, 97th and 98th chapters).
There are many riddles in A Dream of Red Mansions. Although somewhat obscure, it reflects the author's superb artistic level. In this way, the author skillfully links the mystery of poetry with the fate of the characters, and Lin Daiyu's "mourning poems" fully embodies the artistic charm of the language of the works. Cao Gong highly integrated emotion, scenery and people, described people with flowers and expressed feelings with scenery, vividly showing Lin Daiyu's inner sadness and troubles and her tragic fate.
Daiyu's burning poems is the climax of the story. Through the strong contrast between joy and sadness, the author reveals the tragic fate of the characters and the cruelty and absurdity of feudal morality and order. Bitter crimson beads have died before her heart, and Lin Daiyu's feelings have dried up and her soul has died. "Tragedy is tearing up the most beautiful things for people to see" (Lu Xun's words). The author poeticizes the secular world of life and death and turns the sadness of death into a beautiful artistic conception. There are joys and sorrows in words, warmth and sadness in the atmosphere, which makes people sad and can't bear to hide their tears.
Third: How do you feel about reading?
"There are a thousand Hamlets in the eyes of a thousand readers" (Shakespeare's language). Similarly, different readers have different understandings of A Dream of Red Mansions. A Dream of Red Mansions is extensive and profound, covering a wide range, which should be interpreted from many angles, including family trivia, sad love, family rise and fall, personal fate ups and downs and so on. According to the principle of "talking about feelings, recording things", the work follows the track, gets rid of the old stereotypes, skillfully interprets family experiences and personal destiny into a dream of red mansions, and has achieved extraordinary artistic achievements. In particular, the special brushwork of "The truth is hidden and Jia Yu speaks in a village" aroused the infinite curiosity of later readers. Countless readers generally believe that Jia Baoyu, the infatuated son, is actually the embodiment of Cao Xueqin's hatred of the imperial examination, incompetence and poor family. The rise and fall of the Jia family actually implies Cao Xueqin's family changes and so on. And all kinds of guesses are becoming more and more strange.
However, the novel vividly reproduces the life of China at the end of the feudal society in the18th century, and deepens our understanding of the real society and human feelings. Although most of the characters in the book are frustrated and the whole story ends in tragedy, "it is very different from the previous human novels" (Lu Xun's words), which gives people the feeling that it is true and false, like joy and sadness.
The book has a rigorous structure, vivid characters, broad background and far-reaching artistic conception. With the precipitation of history, its artistic features and cultural values are getting heavier and heavier, leading the development of later literature and influencing the value orientation of modern people. For more than 200 years, the world has been commenting on this epic. "When the false is true, it is true and false, and nothing can be done."
It can be described as:
You also said that the red chamber
I also said the red chamber.
The rise and fall of the family masked the romantic trend.
Some people say that Ronghua
Some people say sad.
Happy for a few years, sad for a few years.
Really pity Daiyu
Hanging in the jade belt forest
There is a reason for Meng Qian.
Really sigh Baochai
Buried in the snow
A happy marriage is hopeless.
Liu Hua Fan Hua Di
Wenrou Fugui town
After waking up, start all over again.
The road to the world of mortals is short.
A dream grows in the red chamber.
I want to talk about it.
