FAW Huali (Tianjin) Automobile Co., Ltd., formerly known as Tianjin Huali Automobile Co., Ltd., was founded in 1965. The company is the only production base of miniature characteristic passenger cars under FAW Group, with two brands: compact SUV TERIOS and family leisure multi-function vehicle FAW Jiaxing.

FAW Huali Company began to develop mini-cars in the early 1980s, and the first batch of mini-cars was designated as the production base by the state in 1984. In the same year, technology was introduced from Daihatsu Company in Japan to produce "Tianjin Daihatsu" mini-cars, and nearly 300,000 cars have been produced. 1994 The company passed the ISO9002 international quality certification, and 1997 entered the ranks of 500 large enterprises in China. By the end of 1999, the company had produced a total of 577,000 vehicles, including 356,000 mini-cars and 2210.000 light trucks, and its market share was among the best in the same industry in China.

In June 2002, Tianjin Automobile Industry Group Co., Ltd. and China FAW Group Co., Ltd. were reorganized by means of equity transfer, and Tianjin Huali Automobile Co., Ltd. was renamed FAW Huali (Tianjin) Automobile Co., Ltd.
