Jilin General was originally called the general guarding Ningguta and stationed in Ningguta; In the fifteenth year of Kangxi (1676), he moved to Jilin; Qianlong twenty-two years (1757), officially renamed Jilin General.

There are only two examples in which Deputy Commander Ningguta was promoted to Jilin General: Shanahai in the thirty-fifth year of Kangxi (1696) and Changde in the eighth year of Yongzheng (1730).
