How is GPA calculated?
The standard calculation method of GPA is to multiply the weighted average of college grades by 4 and then divide it by 100. The more common method is to multiply the scores of all subjects by the sum of studies and then divide them by the total credits.

For example, students' credits and grades in five courses are:

Four credits for one course, with a grade of 92(A)

Three credits for Course B, 80 points (B)

Two credits for C course, with a grade of 98(A)

Six credits in Course D, 70 points (C)

E course has three credits, with 89 points (b).

The GPA of the above five results is:

The standard algorithm GPA = [(92 * 4+80 * 3+98 * 2+70 * 6+89 * 3) * 4]/[(4+3+2+6+3) *100] = 3.31.

Extended data

The full name of GPA is Grade Point Average, and Chinese is the average grade point average, which usually refers to the average grade point average. Some schools use the GPA system to evaluate students' learning quality, with the average GPA as the main index.

Various scoring methods

There are four grading methods: arithmetic average, weighted average, credit grade point and average credit grade point.

1, the arithmetic average is to add up the scores of all subjects and divide them by the number of subjects;

2. The weighted average score is the sum of the scores of each course multiplied by the corresponding credits of the subject, and then divided by the average of the total credits;

3. The sum of the credits is the sum of the credits of each course multiplied by the corresponding credits;

4. The average GPA is the sum of credits in each course multiplied by the corresponding GPA divided by the total credits, that is, the sum of credit GPA divided by the total credits.

Among the four grading methods, China mainly calculates the weighted average score of credits, while foreign countries adopt the five-point system, mainly using the average grade point. The sum of GPA and GPA has the same effect.
