Tsinghua University, formerly known as Tsinghua School, was founded in 19 1 1. It was originally a preparatory school for studying in the United States founded by the Qing government. 19 12 was renamed Tsinghua University. In order to try to cultivate talents locally, 1925 established the undergraduate department, and in the same year opened the research institute (Chinese studies). 1928 changed its name to "National Tsinghua University", and 1929 opened a research institute in autumn, with research institutes in all departments. 1937 after the outbreak of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, it moved south to Changsha to run a school jointly with Peking University and Nankai University. 1938 moved to Kunming and was renamed as National Southwest Associated University. 1946, Tsinghua University moved back to the original site in Tsinghua campus and resumed school, with five colleges of arts, law, science, engineering and agriculture and 26 departments.
So Peking University has a longer history.
