Liaoning Technical University is located in Fuxin City, Liaoning Province. It is one of the two national key universities directly under the former Ministry of Coal Industry and a first-class university construction university in Liaoning Province. It was established by the Liaoning Provincial Government and the Emergency Management Department.

The school was founded in 1949, formerly known as Fuxin Mine Secondary Technical College, and was renamed as Fuxin Engineering Senior Vocational School in the same year.

1952 was renamed Fuxin Mining Technology School, and 1958 was renamed Fuxin Coal Mine College.

196 1 Fushun coal mine college, Liaoning coal mine normal college and Jixi mining college merged.

1996 was renamed and upgraded to Liaoning University of Engineering Technology.
