North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power, referred to as "Huashui", is located in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province. It is a key university with characteristics in Henan Province, which is jointly established by the Ministry of Water Resources and Henan Province and mainly managed by Henan Province.
It is the leading unit of China University of BRICS Network University, a member of BRICS University Alliance, a member of China-Russia Jiaotong University Alliance and a member of World Water Council. It is the first batch of national master's degree and doctor's degree awarding units, and was selected into the education and training plan of outstanding engineers of the Ministry of Education.
The school is located in the central and western universities' basic capacity building project, outstanding agricultural and forestry talents education and training plan, high-level minority talents plan, water conservancy research and training center of the Ministry of Water Resources, and open education office of TV University of the Ministry of Water Resources.
The school originated from 195 1 Water Conservancy School of the Ministry of Water Resources of the Central People's Government founded in Beijing, and 1954 was renamed Beijing Water Conservancy School of the Ministry of Water Resources. 1958 Beijing Hydropower School and Beijing Hydropower Correspondence College merged to form Beijing Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower. 1969 moved to Yuecheng Reservoir in Cixian County, Hebei Province to run a school.
197 1 renamed Hebei institute of water resources and hydropower, 1977 moved to Handan city, Hebei province, 1978 renamed North China institute of water resources and hydropower, 1990 moved to Zhengzhou city, Henan province. In 2000, the whole system was put under the management of Henan Province by the Ministry of Water Resources and renamed as 20 13.
