The College of Environment and Resources of Fuzhou University is developing through continuous reform and innovation. Tracing back to its development course, it has experienced the Department of Mining and Metallurgy (one of the only five departments when Fuzhou University 1958 was founded), the Department of Geology and Mining Engineering (198 1 year) and the Department of Resource Engineering (1993). With the deepening of social reform and the rapid development of economic construction in China, people pay more and more attention to environmental problems. 1994 set up the major of environmental engineering, and 1995 officially enrolled students. That year, the name of the department was changed to the Department of Environment and Resource Engineering. Since then, the Department of Environment and Resource Engineering has entered a brand-new development period. After nearly eight years' construction and development, the Department of Environment and Resource Engineering presents itself with a brand-new look. Undergraduate majors include environmental engineering, safety engineering, survey technology and engineering, resources and environment, urban and rural planning and management; Four master's programs: environmental engineering, environmental science, geotechnical engineering, cartography and geographic information system; Three research institutes: Institute of Resources and Environment, Institute of Geotechnical Engineering and Engineering Geology, and Institute of Geo-information Technology; Three departments: Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, Department of Safety Science and Engineering, Ministry of Resources and Urban-Rural Development; Department of central laboratory. There are more than 550 undergraduates and 80 postgraduates. Most of the teachers are masters and doctors introduced from foreign or domestic key universities in recent years. The joining of these young and professional masters and doctors has put the College of Environment and Resources in a very good development period. At present, the College of Environment and Resources has undertaken a number of national natural science foundation projects, key projects of the Ministry of Education and provincial natural science foundation projects, playing an increasingly important role in the fields of environmental protection, geotechnical engineering and safety engineering.
