Donghua University is directly under the Ministry of Education, a national 2 1 1 project, and a national double-class first-class discipline construction university. It is one of the first universities in China with the right to confer doctoral, master's and bachelor's degrees.

By the end of 2002 1 and 1, Donghua University had 1 national key laboratories,1national engineering technology research centers, 20 provincial and ministerial scientific research platforms, 2 national "1 1" intelligence introduction bases and the National University Science Park.

By February of 20021year, the school had 18 national first-class undergraduate specialty construction sites, 10 national specialties,10/specialty of "excellent engineer education and training plan" of the Ministry of Education, and 4 national new engineering research and practice projects.
