Qilu Medical College (Shandong University) has a long history and profound humanistic accumulation. Its origin can be traced back to Wen Hui Guild Hall in Dengzhou, Shandong Province, which was founded in 1864. In 1930s, it enjoyed the reputation of "North Concord, South Xiangya, East Qilu and West China". For more than 100 years, Qilu Medical College has been committed to cultivating medical elites and protecting human health, adhering to the school motto of "being realistic with Guang Zhi" and devoting itself to cultivating first-class medical and health personnel with broad foundation, excellent quality, noble medical ethics and innovative spirit. Up to now, more than 60 thousand medical talents have been trained, which has made important contributions to medical and health undertakings.
The college consists of four directly affiliated hospitals: Basic Medical College, School of Public Health, School of Stomatology, College of Nursing Rehabilitation, College of Pharmacy, First Clinical College, Second Clinical College, and Practice Center of Combination of Medicine and Nursing, which undertake the functions of teaching, scientific research and serving the society. In the battle against COVID-19 in 2020, Qilu Hospital and the Second Hospital sent 22 batches of 352 medical staff to Hubei, Shandong and Shanghai to carry out medical treatment and nucleic acid detection, which made important contributions to epidemic prevention and control.
