Beijing Technology and Business University was formed by the merger of Beijing Business College (founded in 1950) and Beijing Institute of Light Industry (founded in 1958). It is a key multidisciplinary university in Beijing, focusing on economy, management and engineering, and the disciplines of economy, management, engineering, literature, science, law and history support each other and develop in a coordinated way. In 2007, the Ministry of Education rated the undergraduate teaching in colleges and universities nationwide as "excellent".
The school has 10 colleges and 1 teaching departments; It has 2 national testing centers, 1 national experimental teaching demonstration center, 1 national virtual simulation experimental teaching center, 2 key laboratories in Beijing, several provincial and ministerial research bases and collaborative innovation centers.
At present, there are 16 authorized points for first-level disciplines, 19 authorized points for professional masters and 50 undergraduate majors. There are 5 national specialty construction sites, 1 national undergraduate specialty comprehensive reform pilot sites, 4 key disciplines in Beijing, 3 pilot sites for comprehensive specialty reform in Beijing and 8 specialty construction sites in Beijing. The School of Economics has the longest history, the largest specialty, the largest scale, complete discipline structure and outstanding advantages. It has eight undergraduate majors, two master's programs in 13 and six professional master's programs.
