Through the systematic study of journalism minor (including the second subject), students can have basic business abilities such as news interview, news writing, news editing, news photography, news shooting, news radio and television program production, and also have the ability to engage in related work in state organs, administrative propaganda departments, corporate public relations departments, cultural communication companies, network communication companies and so on.
The journalism minor (including two disciplines) mainly offers the following courses: news theory, mass communication, news interview and writing, newspaper editing, news commentary, news photography, radio journalism, TV journalism, Chinese news history, foreign news history, selected lectures on Chinese and foreign news works, professional news reporting, advanced news writing, computer newspaper editing, newspaper and TV color application, radio and TV program production, and network news.
The length of study for journalism minor (including the second major) is 2 years. It is stipulated that the total credit is 25 credits, and students must take at least 9 compulsory courses. The second discipline of journalism requires a total of 45 credits. Students should take at least 10 compulsory course and 5 elective courses, and complete their graduation thesis (design).
After the study of journalism minor (including the second major) ends, matters such as the graduation of minor students and the conferment of the degree of the second major students shall be implemented in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Measures for the Administration of Minor Major (including the second major) of Jilin University (for Trial Implementation).
