Xixi Campus of Zhejiang University is located in the northwest of Hangzhou, beside Xixi River, Hangzhou High-tech Development Zone and Huanglong Business Circle. It is the smallest of the existing six campuses of Zhejiang University. It is one of the earliest new institutions of higher learning founded by China people. It is one of the first key universities to enter the national "2 1 1 Project" and "985 Project".

Xixi Campus of Zhejiang University is the former site of Hangzhou University, which was founded in 1897. Because Xixi River is in the east of the campus, it is named Xixi Campus (which has nothing to do with Xixi National Wetland Park).
