Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute is located in Jingdezhen, the Millennium porcelain capital. It has three campuses with complete functions, elegant environment and strong artistic atmosphere, covering an area of 2,250 mu. It is an institution of higher learning with a long history, distinctive school-running characteristics and complete ceramic disciplines.
The school's predecessor was China Ceramic School founded by 19 10. After the changes of 1927 Jiangxi Ceramic School and 1947 Jiangxi Ceramic Institute, 1958 Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute was established. The school once belonged to the former Ministry of Light Industry, and 1998 was transformed into a central and local building. It is mainly managed by Jiangxi Province, and it is the only multidisciplinary institution of higher learning in China that features ceramics.
The school 1984 has become a master's degree awarding unit, and it is one of the first universities in China that independently recruit art undergraduates and are eligible to recruit foreign students who enjoy China government scholarships to pursue master's and bachelor's degrees.
In 2009, the school was approved by the State Council Academic Degrees Office as the "Project Construction Unit for Doctoral Degree Awarding in 2008-20 15". In 20 1 1 year, the school successfully passed the mid-term examination of the doctoral degree awarding construction unit and the two doctoral degree authorization points of materials science, engineering and design organized by the State Council Academic Degree Office.
