The English Language Department of Bachelor of Arts (Hons) is set up in the Department of Linguistics and English Language, with many unique disciplines and theoretical methods.
The characteristics and advantages of this subject include English linguistics (including temporal linguistics and diachronic linguistics), endangered languages and field linguistics, phonetics and phonetics, morphology, grammar (especially vocabulary, functional grammar and construction grammar), typology, language contact and sociolinguistics, and historical linguistics. Course content of 1 year:
In the first year, I will introduce you to all the course options contained in English linguistics and the basis for further and more professional study. This diversity is very important for experiencing college English learning and making wise choices for future curriculum units. All students can learn compulsory courses, including English history, English pronunciation, sociolinguistics and English grammar, and can increase their credits by up to half a year. For students who take the joint honor course, half of the credits come from other components of your course. The second year's course content:
On the basis of the first year's work, the second year's curriculum unit develops each subject area to provide broader and deeper experience. In the second year, your study will be more flexible. You must choose four course units from the list of English language options, such as Introduction to Old English and Middle English, World English, English Logic, and Language Change and Change (accounting for one third of the total credits). Joint honorary students can choose more course units from the same linguistic and English language choices. At least one-third of the second-year credits must come from two components of your course. The fourth year's course content:
In the last year, your study will be tailored according to your own interests, and you will learn the course units of various majors. Please refer to the sample course units in the table below. The balance between the two components of the plan is also a matter of choice, as long as each component contributes at least one third.
English course: Students who study the joint honor course can choose at most one course unit or thesis in linguistics and English language (here you can discuss and write a specific topic in depth).

This joint course qualifies you for a wide range of employment opportunities.
