1905, Yu Youren and other students from the former Sinian College left Sinian and supported Ma to establish Fudan College in Wusong. The name of the school is taken from the word "Fudan" in the two sentences of Biography of Yu Xia and Shangshu, which means to pursue light and to run schools independently and revive China.
