This department was formally established in 2002, and its party and government work is also managed by the History Department. 1995 was approved to establish a master's degree in tourism management, which is one of the earliest universities in Shanghai to cultivate a master's degree in tourism management. In 2005, she successfully applied for a doctoral degree in tourism management in cooperation with the School of Management, and began to recruit doctoral students in tourism management in 2006.

Since the establishment of the undergraduate program, the Department of Tourism has not only undertaken the training tasks of undergraduates, master students (including single-recruit master students) and doctoral students, but also undertaken the teaching work of undergraduate courses of tourism management and exhibition management in Fudan University's online education college and Fudan University's continuing education college, and successively cooperated with Hainan University, Henan Tourism Bureau, Zhejiang Tourism Training Center, Ningbo Tourism Bureau, Zhoushan Organization Department and other units to offer advanced courses in tourism management. He has also made great achievements in scientific research. In recent years alone, he has presided over 4 scientific research projects of the National Social Science/Natural Science Fund, 7 provincial and ministerial projects and many other horizontal projects, edited and published 4 sets of university teaching materials, 1 set of tourism management research series 1 set, the first set of tourism MBA works in China, and published Fudan Tourism Series, an academic publication of the Ministry of Publishing, which won 2 outstanding achievement awards in philosophy and social sciences in Shanghai and 65,438 awards for decision-making consultation by the Shanghai municipal government. It has formed a relatively complete discipline category, obvious discipline characteristics and pioneering and innovative discipline characteristics.
