The University of National Defense Technology was formerly known as the Military Engineering College of China People's Liberation Army. 1953 was established in Harbin, the famous "Harbin Military Industry", with General Chen Geng as the first president and political commissar. When the Academy of Military Engineering was founded, President Mao Zedong personally wrote "training words" for the Academy and the title of "engineering" for its publication.
