The four major maritime colleges in China are introduced as follows:

China Ocean University: The school was founded in 1924. After private Qingdao University, National Qingdao University, National Shandong University and Shandong University, 1959 developed into Shandong Ocean College, 1960 was identified as a national key comprehensive university, and 1988 was renamed Qingdao.
