Xi International Studies University, founded in 1952, is one of the four earliest foreign language colleges established in New China, and the only ordinary university with complete professional foreign languages in Northwest China. Its predecessor was Northwest Russian College, which was formed by the merger of Russian Department of Northwest University, Russian Department of Lanzhou University and Russian Class of China Northwest Bureau Party School. Russian major was enrolled, and 1958 was renamed Xi 'an International Studies University. Postgraduate enrollment 1979, approved by the State Council Academic Degrees Committee 1986, officially became the authorized unit of master's degree. In February 2006, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the school was renamed Xi 'an International Studies University. After more than 50 years of construction and development, the school has realized the transformation from a foreign language college with a single discipline to a multi-disciplinary foreign language university with humanities as the main body and coordinated development of social sciences, management disciplines and science disciplines. It is an important foreign language talent training base in the western region of the country and plays an irreplaceable role in the field of foreign language education, teaching and scientific research in the northwest.

The school has four campuses, with a total area of 1.593 mu and a building area of 640,000 square meters. The school has complete infrastructure, advanced teaching equipment, multimedia network classroom, language laboratory, computer laboratory, simultaneous interpretation room, simulated tour guide laboratory, news editing laboratory and other modern facilities. Advanced satellite receiving system can receive national TV programs in different languages. The library implements computer management and has built a large-scale electronic academic journal literature library.

The school has 25 colleges, departments, departments and other teaching institutions, 37 undergraduate majors and 6 minor majors, and has jointly trained doctoral students with two foreign universities. English language and literature, French language and literature and German language and literature are the key disciplines in Shaanxi Province. English major is a national first-class major, English, German, French, Russian and Japanese are famous brands in Shaanxi Province, and Russian and Spanish are characteristic majors in Shaanxi Province. European and American Language and Literature Research Center is the key research base of philosophy and social sciences in Shaanxi universities.

The school is an independent enrollment institution for non-universal languages in advance, and it is a unit that recommends outstanding undergraduates to study for master's degrees without taking exams. There are more than 20,000 graduate students, junior college students, international students and various trainees. The school has always insisted on survival by quality and development by characteristics, and established a teaching level evaluation system, a quality education evaluation system and an effective teaching quality monitoring system. In June, 2004, 1 1, the school was evaluated by the Ministry of Education, and 17 was rated as excellent by the expert group. From June to 10, 2007, I got excellent results in the teaching evaluation of English major of the Ministry of Education.

The school has strong scientific research strength and has 22 academic research institutions, including foreign language and literature research institute, foreign language education research institute and human geography research institute. It also cooperated with China Education Association for International Exchange to establish an international education exchange research center, formed a relatively complete and interdisciplinary foreign language research system with a certain scale, undertook a number of national, provincial and ministerial-level scientific research projects funded by the Ministry of Foreign Culture, and published high-quality large-scale dictionaries, monographs, translations, papers and teaching materials. Academic journals such as Foreign Language Teaching, Journal of Xi International Studies University, and Human Geography are the core journals of humanities and social sciences in China and geography in China, which have certain influence in academic circles at home and abroad. Among them, Foreign Language Teaching and Human Geography were selected as source journals of CSSCI 2008-2009.

The school insists on giving full play to its own advantages and extensively developing international academic exchanges. We have established friendly and cooperative relations with foreign 1 18 universities and educational institutions, and foreign experts and professors from 43 internationally renowned universities have come to give lectures, serve as full-time teachers or cooperate in research. The school has been designated by the Ministry of Education as a designated institution of Fulbright Project and a training unit entrusted by the China Municipal Government Scholarship Program for Foreign Students in China. The first Confucius Institute founded by Shaanxi universities overseas was established in Kazakhstan and Eurasia University. With 45 schools in Australia, Japan, France, Spain, Canada and other 19 countries and regions, the "dual-campus" training plan for undergraduates and postgraduates was implemented. Established the Western Humboldt College in cooperation with Humboldt State University in the United States, and established the Western Paris Fashion Art Design Institute in cooperation with Modal Fashion Art Design Institute in Paris, France. With the support of the Korean Cultural Institute, the Korean Embassy in China and the Korean Consulate General in Xi, Sejong College of Xi International Studies University was established. Established the Goethe Language Center of Xi 'an International Studies University in cooperation with the German Federal Government and the National Anthem German Academy. The school also has two student practice bases in Singapore and Britain. In the past five years, nearly 700 students have been sent to study in foreign universities.

The school is a training base for international students in Northwest China. As early as 1979, the Ministry of Education set up a training department for preparatory personnel studying abroad in schools. Over the past 30 years, a total of 55 overseas students have been trained, with a total of more than 86,000 person-times, including 2,820 overseas students sent by the state and 30,000 overseas students entrusted by the unit, and 80% of them have senior titles or above, including academicians of the two academies, university presidents, doctoral supervisors and entrepreneurs. June, 5438+February, 2007, the school and Pucheng English Group jointly established the Qin Susan English Center. In March, 2008, the school established a study abroad training base in cooperation with China (Ministry of Education) Study Abroad Service Center.
