Sorbonne University, also known as Paris University, is one of the oldest universities in the world, and its teaching history can be traced back to the middle of12nd century. The university was officially recognized by King Philip II of France and Pope Innocent III in 1200 and 12 15 respectively. 1257, Sorbonne College, the first college institution of the university, was established, and Sorbonne became the name of the university. 1793, the University of Paris was dissolved. Rebuilt at 1896. 1968, the university was divided into 13 independent universities, and the University of Paris ceased to exist.
