Who founded Peking University?
Peking University, founded in 1898, is the first national university in China and the first formally established university in the modern history of China. Its establishment marks the beginning of modern higher education in China. This was the product of the Westernization Movement in the late Qing Dynasty, which was founded by the Qing government and changed to Peking University in the early Republic of China. The first principal was Cai Yuanpei.
