Henan electromechanical school was established in 1953. It is a national key secondary vocational school directly under the Education Department of Henan Province, the chairman unit of Henan Mechanical and Electrical Vocational Education Group, the vice chairman unit of the National Mechanical Education Society, the pilot unit of education and teaching reform in Henan Province, and the training unit for key teachers of numerical control and electromechanical in vocational schools designated by the Education Department of Henan Province.

The school is located in Zhengzhou South University Town, with a total area of more than 800 mu and a building area of10.6 million square meters. The school has 275 employees, including 67 teachers with senior titles, 79 teachers with master's degree or above, 49 provincial and ministerial academic and technical leaders and backbone teachers, and 32 college academic and technical leaders and backbone teachers. In addition, the school also hired 129 experts and craftsmen in mechanical manufacturing as part-time teachers. The school has sent nine teachers to Germany for training and study.

The school has a national numerical control training base and a national automobile training base, and has five provincial-level key professional points such as numerical control technology application, mechatronics, electrical automation technology, automobile application and maintenance, and computer application technology. It is the only secondary vocational school in the province with two national training bases and five provincial key professional points. There are 70 professional laboratories for CNC molds, rapid prototyping, machining, locksmith, welding, automobile maintenance, electrical and electronic engineering, computer, etc., and training bases 14. Four large factories have been introduced to set up factories in the campus enterprise park, which can provide nearly 5000 internship stations for students at the same time, fully meeting the needs of students' skills training. At present, the total investment of all kinds of equipment exceeds 1 100 million yuan, and the number and scale of training facilities rank first among secondary vocational schools in the province. The school also has the only machine tool museum in Henan Province and a 400-meter standard plastic track and field.

The school takes the "three-oriented" (school collectivization, professional industrialization, curriculum skill) construction and "three-oriented" (principals turn around the market, teachers turn around the students, and students turn around the machine) as the school-running ideas, and takes the lead in implementing the unique teaching mode of "hierarchical cultural courses, integration of professional courses, and combination of production and teaching of practical courses" in China, which has achieved remarkable results, been affirmed by the Ministry of Education and popularized throughout the country. Students have won the first, second and third prizes in the National Vocational Education Skills Competition for many times, the first place in the Henan Vocational Education Skills Competition Group, and the first and second place in the individual total score. Every year, students are booked by employers before graduation, and the employment rate ranks first among peers. The school has been rated as an advanced unit for the employment of college graduates in Henan Province for many years.
