The affiliated middle school of Shanghai Jiaotong University is a key boarding high school under the dual leadership of Shanghai Education Commission and Shanghai Jiaotong University. The school, formerly known as Shanghai No.1 Workers and Peasants Accelerated Middle School, was founded in 1954, and 1958 was changed to Shanghai Jiaotong University Preparatory Course;
1962 was changed to University of Shanghai for Science and Technology Foundation (attached middle school), 1963 was changed to the attached middle school of Jiaotong University, and 1964 was renamed to its current name. In February 2005, the school was officially named as the first batch of "Shanghai Experimental Demonstration High Schools". The campus has a beautiful environment and elegant scenery, and has been a "Shanghai garden unit" since the 1980s.
