Karamay Campus of China Youshi University (Beijing) is directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC). It is one of the first batch of "21project", the first batch of "double-first-class" world-class discipline construction universities, the Beijing Hi-Tech University Alliance and the World Energy University Alliance. It has been selected into "985 Innovation Platform of Engineering Superiority Discipline", "1/plan", "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan", "National Public Postgraduate Program for Building High-level Universities", "Scholarship Receiving Institution of China Government for Overseas Students in China" and "New Engineering Research and Practice Plan". It has a graduate school, featuring distinctive petroleum, mainly engineering.

In 20 15, the Ministry of Education approved the establishment of China Youshi University (Beijing) Karamay Campus, which is not only the first university directly under the Ministry of Education outside Xinjiang to settle in Xinjiang, but also the first undergraduate college in Karamay history. Since then, Karamay Campus of China Youshi University has become the only national key university directly under the Ministry of Education to the west of Lanzhou.
